Decarte

Biography

Potioneering team leader

Decarte leads Four Seasons Garden's Potioneering team as a peak rank 1 Magus and recognised brewing master. Wade brings Leylin Farlier to him after the recruit deliberately reveals useful skill, and Decarte places Leylin under Martin rather than managing every brewer directly. He reviews team progress, questions leaders, and adjusts work across several groups, holding Martin responsible when manpower and apparatus problems cause repeated shortfalls. (Chapters 158–160)

Leylin's high success rate improves Team 3's production enough to earn Decarte's favour and more difficult, better-paid assignments. Decarte's approval is therefore tied to measurable output rather than personal closeness. The structure lets him direct dozens of Magi and acolytes while preserving clear accountability for quotas. (Chapters 159–160)

Wartime administration

As war intensifies, Decarte uses a secret imprint to recall Leylin despite interference from a ruin that blocked communication. At headquarters, documents and crystal balls replace the team's normal banquet while Decarte organises emergency production. He assigns fixed potion quotas across several groups and threatens reductions in benefits, allocations, and authority if they fail, treating medicine as a strategic supply rather than optional research. (Chapters 187–191)

The demand for battlefield healing also leads him to ask Potioneers to join Caesar's hunting team, since consumables can substitute for healers in the secret plane. Decarte himself remains concentrated on production and administration. Although he has met the normal requirements for rank 2, he delays advancement to increase elemental essence conversion beyond ninety percent and build a stronger future foundation. The supplied corpus does not confirm that he completes the breakthrough. (Chapters 194, 216, and 258)

Appearance and personality

Decarte is a middle-aged man with an ordinary face, a dark green headband, and white robes embroidered with green plants. He can appear indolent or aloof during routine gatherings, but becomes exacting about repeated failure and direct during emergencies. He rewards productive talent with harder work and better compensation rather than indulgence. (Chapters 158–194)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Peak rank 1 cultivation

Decarte has spiritual force above the ordinary rank 2 threshold and elemental essence conversion exceeding the minimum eighty percent. He intentionally postpones advancement to push conversion above ninety percent, seeking stronger battle power and easier future progress after the breakthrough. This is an advanced foundation strategy, not proof that he is already rank 2; his latest stated status remains peak rank 1. (Chapters 158, 190–191, and 258)

Potioneering mastery

Decarte is considered a great Potioneering master with enough technical judgement to evaluate brewers, assign recipes of increasing difficulty, and organise production across multiple teams. His expertise focuses more heavily on brewing than combat, leaving him weaker in direct battle than Caesar despite comparable advancement ambitions. The corpus does not name a signature potion personally invented or brewed on-page by Decarte, so his mastery should be described through established reputation and supervision rather than fabricated formulas. (Chapters 158–160, 190–194, and 216)

Production and healer substitution

Decarte treats potions as battlefield infrastructure. He imposes quotas with penalties to maintain supply and assigns Potion Masters to combat teams because healing consumables can cover some functions of scarce healers. This depends on laboratories, apparatuses, ingredients, trained subordinates, and organisational authority; it is not instant healing or a personal aura. (Chapters 159, 191, and 194)

Secret-imprint communication

Decarte can contact Leylin through a secret imprint to issue an emergency recall. The link works over ordinary distance but is blocked inside certain Magus ruins, where communication interference makes the imprint useless until the recipient leaves. (Chapter 187)

No named combat spell or bloodline is established for Decarte.
