Cabourn
Biography
Assault on the secret plane
Cabourn is a rank 2 dark Magus called the Deathbringer and the father of Caesar. During the assault on Four Seasons Garden he takes control of the office above the secret plane's core, violates a Trial's Eye agreement through preparations made by his faction, and kills Lightning Corps Magi with a silver-grey tornado. He then protects the sealing formation while his forces fight the defenders (Chapters 261–263).
When Leylin Farlier destroys the core, Cabourn pursues him through the collapsing entrance. Branded Swordsmen Number 2 and Number 3 self-destruct at close range, burning Cabourn and leaving his arm at an unnatural angle. Despite the injuries, he prepares a rank 2 attack against the protective crimson screen (Chapter 265).
Battle with Leylin
After Leylin advances to rank 2, Cabourn and his former rival Desmund temporarily cooperate to eliminate a threat neither wants to face alone. Cabourn's Wailing Lance fails against Leylin's defences, and Toxic Bile forces him to seal poison inside his own body, reducing him to roughly eighty percent of his strength. Caesar's death in the poison field adds a personal motive to the battle (Chapters 266–267).
Cabourn counters another toxic projection with Omni-Decay, but Leylin's newly analysed Scorching Touch burns through his abdomen and shoulder. Eyes of Petrification then spreads stone from Cabourn's eyes while he retreats. Leylin catches him and combines three further fiery streaks into an attack that destroys his head, leaving the dark Magi's elite force without its leader (Chapters 267–268).
Appearance and personality
Cabourn has vigorous dark-green flames in his eyes and silver solidified spiritual force. He is hostile, prideful, and indifferent to most subordinate deaths, yet Caesar's final death enrages him. His experience lets him identify unfamiliar threats quickly, but confidence in rank and preparation repeatedly leaves him exposed to concealed abilities.
Magic, bloodline, and abilities
As a veteran rank 2 dark Magus, Cabourn manipulates silver-grey or black tornadoes and solidified spiritual force. Omni-Decay forms a black, flower-like storm that cancels a concentrated toxic hand. Wailing Lance is a rank 2 spell assembled from several carried components, but the secret plane's sacrificial rites and screen weaken it enough for Leylin to destroy it (Chapters 262, 265–267).
His Seal of Ten Thousand Poisons explodes lumps on his shoulders into a ring of flesh that contains Giant Kemoyin Serpent poison. It is containment rather than immunity: maintaining the seal limits Cabourn to about eighty percent output, and releasing more power would let the poison spread. The spell buys time but offers no defence against Scorching Touch or petrification (Chapter 267).
