Bowens

Biography

A trusted officer with divided loyalty

Bowens holds a senior position in the Lava World's Martial Officer Department and receives Schiker's recruits as their new superior. His easy manner and tenth-level Fireplume identify him as an elite Emberwing Morning Star, giving him legitimate access to protected installations. Beneath that office, he serves the infiltrating force associated with Jupiter's Lightning and uses native trust to approach Scarlet Eye's secrets. (Chapter 566)

When Loke opens an underground route with a Gaia's Disc replica, Bowens follows and captures him with flame ropes, taking the black copper key needed for deeper access. Leylin Farlier shadows the operation and exploits Bowens's level-ten Fireplume aura to pass a defensive membrane. Bowens believes he is controlling the captive and route; in practice, his cultivation and treachery become tools in Leylin's independent infiltration. (Chapter 567)

The protected chamber

Bowens continues into Scarlet Eye's chamber with the conspirators and uses the sacrificial aura and access conditions needed to avoid lesser protections. He is willing to flatter stronger allies and sacrifice native loyalties because the operation promises advancement and survival within the invading faction. The chamber's final defence, however, carries Scarlet Eye's will and recognises him as the traitor most directly bound to Fireplume. (Chapters 568–574)

The phoenix phantom suppresses Bowens's own Fireplume and burns the Morning Star to death in one attack. His tenth-level mastery gives no protection against the creator's higher authority embedded in the defence. Leylin scans the last energy changes, uses them to complete his modified model, and later takes the copper key. Bowens thus opens the route for others but gains nothing from the betrayal himself. (Chapter 575)

Appearance and personality

Bowens is a blond, middle-aged man with the dignity and aura of a senior officer. He appears easygoing toward new subordinates, turns cold when seizing a captive, and becomes ingratiating around allies he considers stronger. His opportunism is disciplined enough to sustain an official disguise, but he underestimates how thoroughly Scarlet Eye's own inheritance can identify and punish disloyalty. (Chapters 566–575)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Morning Star and tenth-level Fireplume

Bowens is a Star-rank, or Morning Star-equivalent, Emberwing who has cultivated Fireplume to level ten. The technique supplies his flame aura, physical standing, and access credentials within Scarlet Eye's institutions. It can overwhelm a weaker target such as Loke without meaningful resistance. Its lineage is also a vulnerability: Scarlet Eye's defensive phantom understands and suppresses the same inheritance at a superior level, nullifying Bowens before killing him. (Chapters 566–567 and 575)

Flame hand and ropes

Bowens forms a fuming lava-like hand to seize the black key and converts flame into binding ropes around Loke. The restraint completely controls a target below Star rank. The corpus does not provide temperature, range, or a demonstration against a peer, and the technique should not be treated as distinct from Fireplume without further evidence. (Chapter 567)

Access aura and sacrificial method

The protected route checks for a level-ten Fireplume aura, which Bowens naturally provides. He also participates in the sacrificial-aura method used to move through Scarlet Eye's defences. These methods bypass outer conditions but not the phoenix phantom's judgement, showing that possessing the right energy signature is not equivalent to controlling the installation. (Chapters 567–575)

Limits under a creator's authority

Bowens's death is the clearest limit on his power. A Morning Star rank and maximum demonstrated native technique level do not let him resist a defence created by the stronger ruler who understands Fireplume's structure. The phantom suppresses the technique before its killing flame lands, leaving him no shown counter or escape. (Chapter 575)

Relationships

  • Leylin Farlier: Temporary ally who studies Bowens' Fireplume.
  • Schiker: Native officer Bowens helps use as an access key.
  • Scarlet Eye: Ruler betrayed by Bowens and source of the phantom that kills him.

Items

  • Large black copper key: Taken from Loke and used as an access component for Scarlet Eye's installations. Leylin acquires it after Bowens dies.
  • Gaia's Disc replica: Used by Loke to open the underground route; Bowens benefits from it but is not established as its owner.
