Biography

Chief wizard of House Louis

Boruj is a high-ranked wizard above professional rank 15 who serves Marquis Louis because the marquis finances a wizard tower for him. The promised tower would support planar research, advancement, and apprentice training, but it remains under construction throughout Boruj's life and is never a capability he can use. As the house's chief wizard, he has killed many Barbarian Pirates while Louis expands through the outer seas, creating a personal blood feud with Odge. (Chapters 834 and 853)

Boruj accompanies William's campaign against the Scarlet Tigers. He uses Sending for fleet communication, casts Breeze to more than double the ships' speed, and probes for enemies through scrying and life detection. Leylin's countermeasures repeatedly limit those searches. On the apparent enemy island, Boruj recognises danger, layers defensive and detection spells, and opens a teleportation gate quickly enough to extract William from Leylin's concealed explosion. Defeat at sea

Odge's barbarians ambush Boruj aboard the Black Skeleton flagship. Boruj blocks the first assault with Arcane Hand and Wall of Iron, then expends a scroll on Death Cloud and uses High-grade Monster Summon to create two-legged wyverns as cover and transport. Because he memorised only one teleportation spell and already used it to escape the island, he conserves his remaining scroll instead of teleporting again immediately. (Chapter 849)

Leylin Farlier pursues and applies Dimensional Anchor before Boruj can activate that scroll. Isabel breaches his Mage Armour, and Leylin stabs him with the Devilblood Dagger, which seals his spiritual force and drains him into a withered corpse. His personal equipment and bag of research pass to Leylin, while the separate tower construction materials belong to Louis's unfinished project and are later seized from its storehouses. Appearance and personality

Boruj is a shrivelled old man in grey wizard robes, with a hoarse foreign accent and a slender staff. He lives with the wealth and status of a prince and accepts Louis's patronage to obtain an otherwise unaffordable tower. Despite that self-interest, he is observant and cautious in the field: he questions anomalies, detects ambushes before William does, and prioritises escape when surrounded. His reliance on prepared spell slots and expensive consumables also forces him to ration limited options. (Chapters 834 and 841–850)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

  • High-ranked wizardry: Boruj is explicitly above professional rank 15, but the corpus does not give an exact level or complete spell-slot ledger.
