Biography

King of the bloodline nests

The King Blood Vulture rules a mountain colony of ancient bloodline creatures inside a pocket dimension. Mature members are at least rank 3, and the king's peak Crystal Phase life force dominates the flock strongly enough that lesser magical creatures fear its patrols. Subordinate vultures hunt and deliver sacrifices, allowing the king to remain near the central cave and the colony's most valuable hoard. (Chapters 426–429)

Blood Vultures gather anything carrying valuable bloodline energy. Long exposure to those resources accelerates maturation, increases strength, and helps awaken their inherited ability to manipulate blood, so the nests function as both treasure stores and developmental environments. The king protects a Lamia finger bone under layers of concealment while two Hydro Phase vultures guard the entrance during its patrol. This concentration draws Leylin Farlier, who studies the flock's routine rather than confronting it directly. (Chapters 427–430)

Leylin's theft

Leylin uses stealth and prepared shadow servants to steal the Lamia bone, eggs, feathers, and lesser treasures. When the king returns and finds its central hoard violated, it kills or pins the Hydro Phase guards and rapidly reorganises the entire flock to hunt the escaping thieves. Leylin transfers the king's uniquely scented feather to Tanasha, causing the enraged creature to identify her as the robber. The king attacks with crimson lightning and pursues her with its main forces while Leylin escapes with the true harvest. (Chapters 430–431)

Tanasha survives only by using successive potential-stimulating methods and sacrificing a long-nurtured clone. The king is not killed or captured. Leylin later trades a stolen egg to Gilbert and uses the king's soft white feathers to conceal the energy of bloodline treasures inside a sealed box. The last appearances concern these stolen materials, while the flock's ruler remains alive after the chase. (Chapters 431, 436–439)

Appearance and personality

The King Blood Vulture is a gigantic hawk-like creature with blood-glossed plumage and a crown-like crest of golden feathers. It has adult intelligence and can receive spiritual-force communication, but rage over its stolen hoard makes it unwilling to hear Tanasha's explanation. Its actions centre on dominance, territorial defence, flock command, and acquisition of bloodline resources rather than human morality. (Chapters 426 and 429–431)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Ancient bloodline and rank

Every mature Blood Vulture reaches at least rank 3 and qualifies as a pure ancient-blood creature. The king is at the peak of the Crystal Phase rather than confirmed Morning Star rank. Its bulk, spiritual force, flight, and command of many rank 3 followers make a direct assault impossible for Leylin at the time. Its strength is still bounded below Morning Star, which is why Tanasha can survive the flock's pursuit at extreme cost. (Chapters 426–431)

Bloodline attraction and development

Blood Vultures can sense bloodline treasures and are strongly compelled to collect them. Contact with the hoard accelerates growth and awakens inherited powers, while the king receives the rarest materials gathered by the flock. This creates an ecological advantage and a predictable weakness: a Warlock can use bloodline objects to lure, distract, or falsely implicate another target. (Chapters 427–431)

Blood manipulation and sonic chorus

Their cries form penetrating sound waves and disturb the bloodline inside a target. A coordinated flock makes Leylin feel as if his Kemoyin bloodline is being pulled from his body, although Vapour Phase spiritual force suppresses the effect and reveals that the immediate sensation is not irresistible extraction. The corpus establishes the effect and its bloodline focus without explaining its full range or whether the king's version differs beyond power. (Chapters 426–427)

Crimson lightning and flock command

The king attacks with a crimson beam and later surrounds itself with crimson lightning. A single command reorganises scattered vultures into an aerial net that destroys shadow servants and chases survivors. Its tactical control multiplies the danger of the colony, but it can be manipulated while enraged: Leylin divides the flock across dozens of thefts and directs its pursuit toward Tanasha with the stolen feather's scent. (Chapters 430–431)

Concealing feathers

The king's white under-feathers suppress the aura of bloodline treasures strongly enough to fool Leylin at close range and later hide an entire box of contraband from detection. This is a passive material property used by whoever possesses the feathers, not proof that the king can conceal arbitrary distant targets. (Chapters 430 and 439)

• Lamia finger bone: A fragment of an adult rank 5 bloodline creature guarded as the king's most valuable treasure until Leylin steals it.
