Biography

A sociable recruit

Beirut is a third-grade acolyte prospect recruited from the Chernobyl Islands. Jovial and informal, he welcomes Leylin Farlier into Kaliweir's circle, shares meals with him, and explains how the northern continent differs from their isolated homeland. His openness makes him a social guide during a journey in which the recruits are being sorted by aptitude and future academy. (Chapters 15–18)

At Abyssal Bone Forest, Beirut cannot pay the single Magic Crystal needed to choose from available mentors, so the academy assigns one at random. Like other third-grade recruits without exceptional resources, he remains a level 1 acolyte after companions with greater aptitude or outside advantages progress. Kaliweir excludes him from a dangerous field mission because his limited magic resistance would not make up for the burden of protecting him. (Chapters 21 and 31)

Death during the academy war

Remaining inside the academy does not keep Beirut safe when its conflict escalates. During the lockdown and war, more than half of the original Chernobyl Island group die, including Beirut and Kaliweir. Nyssa later reports the outcome to Leylin without giving a battle, killer, or exact chapter of death. Beirut's story therefore illustrates how limited resources and institutional war can erase ordinary acolytes even when leaders keep them away from a single risky mission. (Chapter 82)

Appearance and personality

Beirut is a jovial, informal youth who laughs readily, enjoys food, and admits that several etiquette tutors abandoned him in frustration. His humour, willingness to explain unfamiliar places, and lack of ceremony make him one of the easiest recruits for Leylin to approach. The corpus does not explore how academy pressure changes him before his death. (Chapters 15–21)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Third-grade aptitude

Beirut has third-grade Magus aptitude and enters Abyssal Bone Forest as an acolyte. By the early field missions he remains at level 1, with only the general magic resistance expected at that stage. The corpus does not establish a spell model, meditation progress beyond that point, Knight training, bloodline, or magical profession. (Chapters 15–31)

Resource limitation

His inability to spend one Magic Crystal on mentor selection leaves the result to chance. The story does not state whether the assigned mentor was poor, but Beirut's stalled rank shows that aptitude alone has not supplied the instruction and resources required for rapid progress. No later ability should be inferred from his eventual death in the war. (Chapters 21, 31, and 82)
