Biography

Saintess of Hope Stronghold

Barbara Morui is a native whom Leylin Farlier, worshipped as Kukulkan, blesses and whom Tiff names a saintess. At Hope Stronghold she heals plague victims and reassures survivors such as Aya that their families remain under care. Faith in the Winged Serpent God spreads alongside recovery, giving the stronghold both renewed hope and a growing base of followers (Chapters 996–1000).

Barbara then commands a campaign whose ranks expand from fewer than ten thousand to fifty thousand as refugees, soldiers, and nobles defect. She accepts the practical surrender of Dole City, promises holy water, sends aid against its fires, and deploys church warriors against the remaining altars. Although success feeds her ambition, she obeys Tiff's order to halt and recognises that being favoured as a saintess does not make her a Chosen or place her above the pope. She helps consecrate the conquered city and stands within the new state founded under Kukulkan's bloodline (Chapters 1008–1011).

Mission on the mainland

Decades later Barbara is a legendary priestess operating in the north. She intervenes when Rafiniya threatens Anya, alters the surrounding space to slow messages and faith connections, and releases the paladins because defeating them would cause needless casualties. She then heals labourers, shelters refugee children, and oversees their education while using Anya's family as an entry into northern trade and politics (Chapters 1138–1141).

Her gentleness coexists with hard church strategy. Barbara reads the Blackmoon Merchant Group's silence as political calculation, receives intelligence from devil hunters, and rejects attempts to claim the church's commerce or her person. Leylin answers through a descended conscient and decrees the hostile family's destruction. After the northern operation helps isolate Rafiniya from potential rescuers, Leylin recalls Barbara and the devil hunters before the opposing churches can mobilise fully (Chapters 1142–1157).

Appearance and personality

Barbara is a youthful, vigorous native maiden with black eyes and a charming face. She can resemble a gentle healer or older sister, touching infected patients without disgust and encouraging displaced children. The same smile can mask careful commercial judgment and a chilling certainty that anyone who covets what belongs to Kukulkan will be punished. Her devotion encompasses her body, soul, office, and political achievements.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Barbara advances from a newly blessed saintess to a legendary priestess. Her demonstrated divine magic includes healing infected wounds: light removes swelling and pus and restores healthy flesh, although she still instructs the patient to keep the injury clean and avoid strain. Priest training gives her fluent command of mainland languages, and her status lets her pray to and receive decrees from Leylin's divine conscient (Chapters 996, 1140, 1143).

She can alter local space strongly enough to slow emergency signals and even the transmission of faith, supporting an ambush against paladins. The scene does not establish an unlimited spacetime lock; Rafiniya had already penetrated the surrounding confinement, and Barbara chooses negotiation because a battle would inflict heavy casualties. Her armies, devil hunters, intelligence channels, and commercial agents are organised resources of the church rather than spells cast by Barbara alone (Chapters 1138, 1142).
