Azlok

Azlok is a pit fiend who guards the outer Iron Tower for Beelzebub, then rapidly transfers allegiance to Leylin Farlier after Leylin demonstrates control over Dis and gluttony. The new master rewards that opportunism by placing him over the entire layer.

Biography

Guardian outside Beelzebub's secrets

Azlok first appears through his reputation as a jealous superior whose obstruction can prevent a lesser devil's promotion. Behind that petty image, he is one of Beelzebub's military aides and controls the outer regions of the Iron Tower. The trust is limited: even Azlok cannot enter its innermost sections, showing that authority in hell is compartmentalized and dependent on a master's confidence. He protects the tower's perimeter without possessing the secrets hidden at its core. (Chapters 1027–1032)

Submission to the stronger law

When Leylin takes control of Dis and demonstrates command over the law of gluttony, Azlok immediately recognizes that Beelzebub's position has failed. He kneels, transfers loyalty, and supplies local knowledge instead of sacrificing himself to a lost cause. He helps secure and evacuate the tower's outer territory while Leylin addresses its deeper defenses. The surrender is calculated but useful: Leylin gains an experienced native commander, and Azlok survives the fall of his old patron. (Chapters 1031–1033)

Administrator and defender of Dis

Leylin installs Azlok as ruler and administrator of Dis. The pit fiend suppresses opposition, maintains the layer's military structure, and later works with Borke when rebellion threatens the transformed hell. His continued service turns an opportunistic defection into a stable arrangement. Rule gives him far more authority than Beelzebub allowed at the Iron Tower, making loyalty to Leylin materially rewarding. (Chapter 1043 and Chapters 1122–1123)

Expansion under Kukulkan

As Dis becomes part of Kukulkan's divine kingdom, Azlok commands devil armies into Avernus and oversees the elimination of remaining resistance. The transformed layer strengthens him toward rank 7 while also binding his future more tightly to Leylin's divine system. When Leylin tours the conquered hells and discusses the fate of native devils, Azlok remains fervently obedient. He ends the supplied narrative as an empowered subordinate rather than an independent Archdevil. (Chapters 1126–1131)

Appearance and personality

Azlok is a horned pit fiend whose bearing can change rapidly from intimidating command to complete submission. His infernal status gives him the presence expected of a greater devil and military guardian.

He is jealous, calculating, and opportunistic. Azlok does not romanticize loyalty when Beelzebub can no longer protect or reward him, but he is capable of sustained service after Leylin grants him Dis. His zeal is therefore compatible with self-interest: the new order gives him authority and advancement that the old one denied. (Chapters 1027–1131)

Pit fiend body and infernal status

Azlok is a powerful pit fiend, placing him among Baator's elite devils with the physical and supernatural foundation needed to guard a Lord's tower. The corpus does not provide a named personal spell, weapon, or full transformation for him, so generic pit-fiend abilities should not be expanded beyond his demonstrated strength, survival, and command presence. He remains below rank 7 before Dis's transformation. (Chapters 1027–1043)

Military command and administration

Azlok can organize tower defenses, suppress revolts, control devil troops, administer an entire layer, and direct an invasion into Avernus. His experience spans security, logistics, occupation, and enforcement rather than a single combat technique. The troops, fortifications, Iron Tower, and infernal bureaucracy are resources placed under his command. Their strength belongs to the organization and territory, not to Azlok's body when isolated from them. (Chapters 1027–1131)

Divine-kingdom amplification

When Dis is incorporated into Kukulkan's divine kingdom, the new origin and divine structure push Azlok close to rank 7 power. This is territorial and patron-derived amplification rather than a self-created law or independent ascension. It depends on Leylin's control of the layer and can therefore strengthen Azlok while also increasing his dependence on the new master. The corpus does not confirm that he fully crosses into rank 7.
