Biography

Scholar and believer

Anthony Blunton is an elderly human scholar, a sincere follower of the God of Knowledge, and the culture tutor selected for young Leylin Farlier in Faulen House. His first lessons combine religion with education: he teaches the family's faith, guides Leylin through prayer, and interprets the holy light that answers as acceptance by the deity. Anthony is not a hidden wizard or priest; his authority comes from learning, belief, and recognised scholarly standing. (Chapters 791–794)

Eight years of teaching

Anthony teaches in the afternoons around Ernest's magic curriculum and continues for eight years even after Leylin has absorbed everything he knows. His lessons cover history, geography, borders, noble etiquette, religion, and the cultural knowledge expected of an heir. Leylin maintains respect because Anthony teaches seriously and cares for him, and the result is visible in the flawless manners and political knowledge of Leylin Faulen's public identity. (Chapters 794–803)

As his life force fades, Anthony gives Leylin the emblem awarded to him in the king's capital by the God of Knowledge. He wants his student's future achievements recorded on the church's wall of glory and hopes his own name will survive in the account. Rather than stop working, he calmly resumes a history lesson after discussing death, treating the transmission of knowledge as the proper completion of his life. (Chapters 796–797)

Death and divine passage

Bishop Tapris stabilises Anthony long enough for a final prayer and eulogy. Anthony bids farewell to his family and student, then dies. Leylin witnesses golden gates open and Anthony's soul travel directly to the divine realm instead of undergoing the ordinary evaluation of the dead, apparently a privilege connected to the bishop's rite and Anthony's faithful service. The corpus presents this as the fulfilment of Anthony's belief, not as a spell he personally casts. (Chapter 798)

The “Sage Anthony” mentioned in Chapter 1067 is a separate astral-information expert, not the Faulen tutor.

Appearance and personality

Anthony is an old man with a kind, low voice and a face that brightens when his student succeeds. He is courteous, earnest, devout, and deeply invested in traditional education. Approaching death does not interrupt his daily work; faith in the divine realm lets him face it calmly, while his remaining ambition is that Leylin use learning honourably and remember the teacher who helped him. (Chapters 791–798)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Human limits

Anthony is a normal human with slight spiritual talent. Leylin measures his spirit at 1.7 but finds no Magus, wizard, priest, bloodline, class feature, or combat magic concealed behind his scholarly identity. His religious emblem can participate in prayer, yet the responding holy light comes from the God of Knowledge rather than Anthony's own spellcasting. (Chapters 791–792)

Scholarship and pedagogy

Anthony teaches history, geography, religion, upper-class etiquette, and the political structure of Dambrath. He uses maps, texts, questions, and repeated practice rather than supernatural memory transfer. Eight years of this instruction help Leylin perform the role of a cultivated noble heir without social faults. Anthony's knowledge is finite—Leylin eventually learns all he can teach—but his ability to organise and transmit it remains his defining professional skill. (Chapters 794–803)

Faith and the fate of his soul

Anthony's sincere worship shapes his conduct and death. A bishop's holy light stabilises him briefly, and the final rite allows his soul to enter the God of Knowledge's realm directly. This passage is a divine and clerical intervention, not evidence that Anthony can open planar gates or grant himself immortality. Once within the divine realm he is expected to become a petitioner sustained by the god, provided that deity and realm endure. (Chapters 792 and 798)
