Biography
Escort to the Magus academies
Angelo is one of the black-robed Knights assigned to escort Leylin Farlier and other acolyte candidates toward the Magus academies. He recognises Leylin's inherited breathing practice but has his own technique and no interest in stealing the method of a minor noble family. Angelo has already risked participating in a Magus's experiment, leaving him altered and binding his future to the dangerous work available around Magi. (Chapter 4)
When Direwolves attack, Angelo rescues whoever can still be reached, returns covered in blood, and warns the candidates that the limited escorts cannot protect everyone. He fights at the front with a huge sword, then orders the Knights to activate their Secret Skills when stronger bodyguard wolves enter the charge. The decision increases their immediate survival power but knowingly spends the escorts' already damaged bodies. (Chapters 10–12)
Journey to the coast
After the battle, Angelo removes clothing torn by his enlarged muscles and shows heavy sweating, breathlessness, and weakness from the technique. He still orders an immediate departure because blood will attract more predators. During the final drive to the coast he hands Leylin the reins so he can rest, completing his duty despite the accumulated strain. (Chapters 12–14)
Leylin later learns that Angelo's escort group received an overdose of radiation as experimental subjects and had only several years left to live. Their employers use them as disposable protection for new acolytes because the damage has already shortened their future. The corpus does not return to this Angelo or confirm the exact time and manner of his death. (Chapter 14)
The Angelo studying under Simell in Chapter 879 is a separate wizard and not the caravan escort.
Appearance and personality
Angelo wears black robes and wields a huge sword. During Secret Skill activation his muscles swell until he resembles a small giant, tearing the outer clothing; afterward he is pale, sweating, gasping, and weakened. He is terse, alert, and realistic about whom the escorts can save, yet continues protecting the candidates despite knowing that Magus experimentation has made him disposable. (Chapters 4–14)
Magic, bloodline, and abilities
Knight physique and breathing technique
Angelo has the physical qualities of a full Knight and practises a breathing technique distinct from the Farlier family's method. This provides enhanced strength and the ability to use faintly empowered sword attacks against Direwolves. He is a martial escort, not an established Magus or acolyte, and no spellcasting rank should be assigned to him. (Chapters 4 and 10)
Muscular Secret Skill
At Angelo's command, the black-robed Knights activate a Secret Skill that makes their muscles expand dramatically and raises their combat strength against the larger wolves. The enhancement tears clothing and is followed by severe sweating, gasping, and visible weakness. The text explicitly frames this as a technique with a price; it cannot be treated as a sustainable transformation or used without worsening physical strain. (Chapters 11–12)
Experimental radiation
Angelo carries radiation from a prior Magus experiment at levels detectable by Leylin's A.I. Chip. The dose does not grant a stated power. Instead, it has damaged the escorts and leaves them expected to live only a few more years, which is why Magi regard them as disposable. Any unusual shadow overlap observed around Angelo is not sufficiently explained to establish a separate magical ability. (Chapters 4 and 14)
Escort experience
He commands other Knights, assesses when a defensive formation is failing, organises rescue, distributes responsibility to the candidates, and moves the caravan before blood attracts further predators. These are leadership and survival skills rather than supernatural effects. (Chapters 10–13)
