Valerie Revell

Valerie Revell is the granddaughter of Alcharist Revell, a fourth-class wood dragon sent to support August Void. She enters the heir wars as a competitive ally, grows into a battlefield leader and healer, and helps carry August from the elimination round through the struggle for the Emperor's Crown.

Biography

A Revell envoy who becomes a friend

Valerie seeks August during the elimination round, initially provoking a fight before identifying herself as Alcharist's granddaughter. Her grandfather has sent her to gain experience and aid the newly born Azure Dragon, making her presence a practical sign of Revell Clan support. She and August spar as equals, but her teasing treatment of him as a ten-year-old also cuts through the ceremonial distance surrounding his lineage. What begins as a clan assignment thus acquires a personal basis before either leaves the arena. (Chapters 1641–1642)

Valerie joins August and Melania in the search through Fort Halleya, contributing caution, mana communication, and the observation that apparently mismatched food and labels form part of Damien's puzzle. Damien's hidden trial tests whether she would sacrifice others for herself. Although she begins as someone inclined to prioritize her own interests, her attachment to family and friends makes her protect them, and she adapts inside the simulated crisis. The trial leaves its most traumatic memories blurred, but confirms the loyalty on which the trio's later cooperation depends. (Chapters 1646–1655)

A fourth-class contender and wood-domain commander

The heir wars confirm that Valerie has already reached fourth class when she enters the labyrinth. She survives a prolonged elemental disadvantage against Remelia by concentrating wood mana into defense and self-healing, then drops her forest and healing at the decisive moment to turn its remaining roots into killing projectiles. The choice demonstrates both her recklessness and calculation: she will endure severe burns and abandon sustain when a narrow finishing opportunity is more valuable than preserving a comfortable defense. (Chapters 1669–1679)

In the later war-game stage, Valerie commands ten young wood dragons who are not yet comfortable outside their isolated clan. Their combined domain converts a border city into a jungle, after which she orders its occupation and independently identifies the enemy's trapped defensive formation. She transforms into a green-scaled wood dragon and meets a Holy Clan opponent head-on, using the stage to announce that the Revell name and its discarded clan are no longer willing to remain buried. (Chapter 1710)

Real war, the crown, and shared succession

When the heir wars are interrupted by invasion, Valerie and Melania help retake Fort Halleya but cannot prevent civilian losses. Valerie then fights her way toward the Revell Clan to recruit aid, risking herself to save people she meets en route. The experience turns simulated loyalty into a real consequence: the protected upbringing that once made her reckless gives way to a deliberate choice to bring her clan into danger for the wider kingdom. She later rejoins August's crown expedition rather than retreating once her family duty is fulfilled. (Chapters 1730, 1736)

At the crown cavern, Valerie defeats Faldren quickly instead of indulging the honorable duel he wants, because supporting August matters more than resolving her own grudge. She then prioritizes healing the alliance while Melania handles broad offense. After betrayal nearly kills the group, Valerie remains conscious through August's rescue and warmly embraces the restored Melania. Finally, she helps keep the other companions from interrupting August's reunion with his father, and August secures equal imperial support for her and the rest of the team. (Chapters 1742, 1759–1760, 1764)

Appearance and personality

Valerie's human-form features are not described in enough detail to establish hair or eye color. Her dragon form is explicit: she has green scales that shimmer into the earth and vegetation, a protected tan underbelly, wings, and a crown of horns resembling ancient wood. Her transformed body embodies camouflage and living wood rather than the metallic or elemental spectacle of the Holy Clans she challenges. (Chapter 1710)

She is playful, competitive, reckless, and openly affectionate with people she accepts. Valerie initially enjoys appearing mysterious, laughs at August's adult manner, and physically teases him, but she is also quick to abandon personal pride when an ally's survival or objective takes priority. Her upbringing in the compassionate, small Wood Dragon Clan creates both flaws and strengths: limited consequences encourage rashness, while deep familial attachment makes her remarkably loyal and capable of extending that loyalty to a chosen team. (Chapters 1641, 1655, 1742, 1760–1764)

Abilities, laws, and evolution

Wood domain and environmental control

Valerie can generate forests large enough to divide an arena and sustain a prolonged battle inside them. Her wood domain reshapes terrain, binds opponents through roots and plant matter, and lets her turn existing vines, moss, trees, and splinters into weapons. In the third-stage war game, combined wood-dragon power transforms an urban border city into a humid jungle under her command. Fire remains a serious counter: intense heat burns her constructs, forces constant replenishment, and can return control of the environment to an opposing domain. (Chapters 1642, 1672–1679, 1683, 1710)

Vitality and healing

Wood mana gives Valerie both self-healing and the ability to stabilize others. She heals herself continuously while defending against Remelia's flames, restores enough function to August's injured leg for him to move, and later takes the dedicated healing role during the crown battle. The healing is not absolute. Valerie is described as only a developing healer, August's leg cannot withstand more than movement, and sustaining recovery competes for the same mana she needs to maintain a forest or launch a decisive attack. (Chapters 1672–1679, 1686, 1742)

Dragon body and command

As a fourth-class dragon, Valerie can fight in humanoid or true form. Transformation increases the scale of her physical and magical output, and she uses it to collide directly with a Holy Clan genius. Her command ability is equally important: she supervises inexperienced Revell youths, places them in a coordinated domain, and sends them to secure territory while she scouts threats. The corpus confirms effective leadership and growth but does not narrate a later formal realm advancement beyond fourth class. (Chapters 1669, 1710)

Relationships

  • August Void: Valerie is sent by Alcharist as both trainee and tangible Revell support for August. Their first fight becomes teasing friendship and competitive sparring; she then solves trials beside him, heals his injuries, fights under his plan, and suppresses her own duel to protect his crown attempt. August reciprocates by insisting that the Dragon Emperor grant his companions the same resources offered to him. (Chapters 1641–1655, 1683–1686, 1710, 1742, 1764)
  • Melania Achen: Valerie initially underestimates Melania, then immediately reclassifies her as a serious rival after seeing the power gained from Damien's trial. Competition grows into complementary teamwork: Melania supplies area damage while Valerie heals, both defend Fort Halleya, and Valerie's first response to Melania's return from near-death is an unrestrained embrace. (Chapters 1657–1658, 1730, 1742, 1759–1760)
  • Alcharist Revell: Alcharist is Valerie's grandfather and the source of her initial mission. He sends her into the heir wars to gain experience and help the Azure Dragon whose first transformation he witnessed, thereby making Valerie the visible pledge of a clan that had previously preferred seclusion. During the real invasion, Valerie returns toward that clan to recruit its power for Arulion's defense. (Chapters 1641, 1730)
  • Lucas and Ophelia: Valerie enters the heir-wars cohort alongside two acknowledged fourth-class geniuses and comes to regard them as both competition and allies. Their group survives successive trials and later learns that Lucas and Ophelia are among the few alliance members still alive during the invasion, strengthening the survivors' shared stake in August's reformist future. (Chapters 1642, 1658, 1730)

Items

  • Candidate emblem: Valerie carries an heir-wars emblem. She gives it temporarily to Damien so he can place disguised blood in it, and it later serves as part of the competition system that points candidates toward the hidden crown. No unique permanent upgrade to the emblem is confirmed. (Chapters 1661, 1730)
