Long Chen

Long Chen is the Young Lord of the Long Clan, a sword cultivator, and one of Damien Void's closest friends. Proud and honor-driven, he initially rejects the poison affinity and Heart of Poison physique that conflict with his ideal of a direct sword. His progression ultimately reconciles those traits: after inheriting the Empyrean Dragon Sword and awakening draconic power, he reaches Godhood and develops an open Poison Dragon sword path capable of wounding Supreme-God flesh.

Biography

A rival in the Celestial Star Palace examination

Long Chen enters the Celestial Star Palace examination as a renowned Long Clan genius whose composure and endurance already set the standard for other candidates. Damien's superior test result wounds his pride but also gives him the worthy opponent he has been seeking. Rather than scheming against the unknown challenger, Long Chen remains to observe him, openly requests a duel, and schedules it so both have time to prepare. His competitiveness is therefore demanding but fundamentally reciprocal. (Chapters 122–131)

The eventual fight lasts for hours and forces both men past routine technique. Long Chen combines sword mastery, golden lightning, dragons, and a domain-like palace manifestation, while acknowledging that Damien's spatial escape would decide a true life-and-death contest. Their catastrophic final clash leaves neither a clean victor. At admission, Long Chen immediately vows to win next time, establishing the pattern that defines their friendship: insults and rivalry coexist with genuine admiration, and each man's progress gives the other a reason to train harder. Young Lord and Empyrean inheritance

Long Chen's position as Young Lord is grounded in action rather than family shelter. He defeats Long Bai's ambush despite the class difference and later is credited with stopping the Long Clan's internal conflict himself. In the Empyrean Dragon Realm, his duel with Xue Feng shows how he develops: he welcomes an equal technical exchange, corrects flaws exposed by the opponent, and unveils the unfinished Void Sword inspired by Damien. Honor does not mean rigidity, since he will use the hilt or an unexpected angle when those remain honest extensions of swordcraft. (Chapters 129–130, 439–441, and 516)

The Empyrean Dragon Sword's trial destroys Long Chen's eyes thousands of times in an apparent execution. He refuses to submit, pulls the stakes free himself, and discovers that the ordeal has awakened Draconic Eyes capable of perceiving mana, structures, and sword intent. The ancient sword then accepts him as Long Tiandi's descendant and companion. This double inheritance strengthens his Dragon Bloodline and gives his ambition a living counterpart, but the sword's approval follows endurance and intent rather than replacing either. Hidden Dragon and the affinity he rejects

When Bai Xieren selects Long Chen for the Hidden Dragon Group, stealth forces him to reveal the affinity he has deliberately avoided. His Heart of Poison can store and assimilate poisons in his blood, then release diluted forms through skin or blood; a colorless dose briefly confuses stronger observers long enough for him to pass the test. Long Chen dislikes the mismatch between poison and his ideal sword, so he treats it as an emergency tool instead of a path. That denial preserves his self-image but leaves part of his talent undeveloped. (Chapters 499–501)

Under the cover identity Long Aotian, Long Chen infiltrates Niflheim beside Damien. Interrogators mutilate him for hours, taking fingers, teeth, and skin even though his answers match the constructed alibi. He maintains the frightened assistant persona and reveals nothing, relying on prepared healing afterward rather than breaking the mission to defend his pride. The episode proves that his honor can serve covert duty: he may dislike deception and poison, but accepts both when comrades and the war make them necessary. (Chapters 504–521)

Grand Assembly and Judgement Order

By the Grand Assembly, Long Chen is a level-390 Draconic Sword Emperor whose golden dragon sword path helps overturn prejudice against the Human Domain. He and Xue Fang advance through the Holy Light Realm, confront a firestorm they cannot overpower, and choose an honorable last stand instead of a panicked death before Damien's distant barrier saves them. Their display earns recognition not because they dominate every obstacle, but because their intent and cooperation remain coherent when exhaustion removes the prospect of victory. Long Chen later joins Judgement Order and fights where Damien cannot intervene. His Draconic Eyes can perceive truths but fail against Rose's refined concealment, a limitation he accepts as a reason to train rather than an insult to his inheritance. Paired with Su Ren, he assassinates High Commanders, protects the larger operation, and learns to trust a rival whose blade path differs from his own. Their banter sharpens judgment while their complementary techniques begin forming the partnership that defines their late combat. (Chapters 1144–1187)

From lower-universe victory to the poison sword

During the final lower-universe campaign, Long Chen holds a place among Judgement Order's core leadership and fights beside Damien's other companions against Nox Supremes. The scale has changed dramatically from his first rivalry, but the principle has not: he pursues opponents who can force technical growth and then moves to reinforce other fronts once his assigned enemies fall. Afterward he remains a friend who can drink with Damien and Su Ren, preserving a personal relationship beyond military rank or shared dependence on one leader. (Chapters 1205, 1331–1344)

In the Heavenly World, Long Chen and Su Ren continue chasing the sword when easier routes to relevance exist. Damien recognizes that their swordsmanship reaches an esoteric realm beyond his own, while their Divinities and Legends grow under a blessing indirectly shaped by his wish for his friends to stand beside him. They eventually reach mid-level Godhood. This rise is not portrayed as a sequence of effortless gifts: sword practitioners earn the late path through repeated battle enlightenment, and continued ascent depends on developing the Legend that gives their individual sword meaning. Long Chen's decisive personal development comes when his wives push him to stop denying his innate poison. Seeking an honorable expression rather than a hidden toxin, he finds a rare Poison Dragon and inherits its bloodline two years before the Sacred Abyss war. He integrates poison openly into sword aura, heart, and even mind swords. Fighting with Su Ren, he pressures Grand Dukes and uses openings in their energy defenses to cut Supreme-God flesh, transforming the affinity he once hated into a direct declaration of his identity. Appearance and personality

Long Chen is a handsome black-haired man whose early composure and valiant bearing attract attention even when he ignores it. His most distinctive feature becomes his Draconic Eyes: scarlet red pupils with vertical slits, awakened when the Empyrean inheritance destroys and reconstructs his original eyes. In combat his gaze and sword aura are repeatedly described as sharp, while golden dragons and a massive greatsword make his battlefield silhouette far less restrained than his ordinary expression. Pride and directness define his surface personality. He wants worthy fights, separates gratitude from grievance, and would rather face an overwhelming disaster with his sword raised than flee without purpose. Yet he is not a simplistic knight. Long Chen uses tactical feints, accepts assassination work, and sustains a cowardly cover under torture when the mission requires it. What he refuses is not cunning itself, but cowardice that abandons responsibility or substitutes borrowed status for personal mastery. (Chapters 130–137, 440, 500–516, and 1004)

His seriousness is frequently undercut by competitiveness, poor naming instincts, and easy irritation around Damien or Su Ren. That humor does not weaken the relationships; it makes equality possible between men who would otherwise communicate only through battles. Long Chen also changes when confronted with his own blind spots. He acknowledges inferior perception, follows Rose's strategy, and eventually accepts the poison he despised. Abilities, laws, and evolution

Sword path and Sword Aura

Long Chen is a specialist who uses Sword Law and Sword Aura in place of relying primarily on an elemental affinity. His early Long Clan techniques manifest golden dragons, lightning, and an imperial palace, but his personal work moves toward concentrated intent. The Void Sword compresses an intricate pattern into a paper-thin, formless strike, while later casual slashes conceal enough profundity to threaten opponents who read only the motion. His direct paths are predictable in outline yet difficult to stop because intent, force, and occasional craftiness prevent a simple counter. (Chapters 130–134, 440–441, 561, and 998)

At Godhood, the sword path has become an esoteric discipline rooted in the living mind and strengthened by Legend. Long Chen can command mind swords, press Grand Dukes onto the defensive, and cut flesh protected at Supreme-God scale when Su Ren removes the associated energy defense. The distinction matters: sharpness lets him exploit an opening, but does not grant the independent power to break every Grand Duke's full defense. His greatest late-war results rely on sustained pressure and a partner whose energy-cutting sword creates that opening. (Chapters 1830 and 1869)

Empyrean Dragon Sword and Dragon Bloodline

The Empyrean Dragon Sword is a Demigod-ranked inheritance left by Long Tiandi and carries a responsive will. Its binding trial awakens Long Chen's Draconic Eyes and a portion of his Dragon Bloodline, after which sword and wielder fight as companions rather than as a man borrowing an inert weapon. The blade can project a massive five-clawed golden dragon, channel Long Chen's sword intent, and express a hunger for powerful opposing weapons or materials. Its personality can also resist him, so compatibility matters alongside ownership. (Chapters 433–444, 516, and 993–998)

Draconic Eyes perceive mana, see through physical obstructions, clarify sword aura, and expose some concealed truths. They are a perception aid rather than automatic omniscience. Rose's carefully woven escape path remains invisible to Long Chen until she reveals it, and Su Ren directly criticizes his lack of skill in using the gift. The eyes therefore expand what he can learn but still require deliberate cultivation and can be outclassed by a sufficiently refined concealment. (Chapters 443 and 1153)

Heart of Poison and Poison Dragon integration

Heart of Poison is a special physique that stores and assimilates poisons in Long Chen's blood. He can dilute the accumulated poison and release it through his skin or apply it directly through blood. Early in third class, even his strongest poison only disables a fourth-class observer for seconds, and he uses it reluctantly because hidden poisoning conflicts with his desired image of an honorable sword. The physique offers adaptability, but strength, delivery, and his own refusal to practice it sharply limit its early value. (Chapters 500–501)

His Poison Dragon inheritance resolves the ideological limit rather than merely increasing toxicity. Instead of coating a blade with a concealed substance, Long Chen makes poison part of his sword aura and heart, so it travels openly with physical and mental swords. This gives every expression of his sword path a corrosive draconic quality while preserving the direct attack he values. The technique is only two years old and explicitly unpolished during the final war; its killing power is exceptional, but its mature possibilities remain unfinished. (Chapter 1869)

Close combat, endurance, and command

Long Chen's sword training is supported by physical strength, flight, golden movement techniques, lightning, and enough control to shape large attacks without indiscriminate targeting. His early duel with Damien proves he can fight for hours, but also exposes weaker regeneration and the danger posed by an opponent who can disengage through space. He compensates through discipline, prepared recovery resources, and a willingness to continue through pain, most starkly shown by surviving the Empyrean trial and Niflheim torture without surrendering his objective. He also develops from clan scion into operative and field leader. Long Chen stops an internal clan conflict, works under Bai Xieren's Hidden Dragon command, leads charges for Judgement Order, and coordinates naturally with specialists whose skills cover his weaknesses. He is not the Order's primary strategist and sometimes misses the purpose behind Rose's plans, but follows good command once it is explained. • Damien Void: Damien begins as the unknown genius who injures Long Chen's pride and becomes the rival who validates his ambitions. Their draw, later missions, and constant insults turn competition into a sworn-brother dynamic. Long Chen protects Damien's Niflheim cover under torture, joins Judgement Order during his absence, and remains one of the few friends who can simply drink and trade insults with him after both have crossed worlds. • Su Ren: Su Ren is Long Chen's blade-path rival and eventual ideal combat partner. Their early Judgement Order banter exposes Long Chen's perceptual gaps, but paired missions establish trust and complementary timing. At Godhood, Su Ren cuts hostile energy while Long Chen pressures bodies and capitalizes on openings, allowing two mid-level Gods to kill Grand Dukes whose complete defenses neither could independently overcome.
