Gestalt's Eye

History

Gestalt's Eye is the primary Part left by the Ancient God Gestalt, one of the Three Divine Artifacts. Mulack once reaches the end of Purgatory and takes the Eye from the Forest of Madness. When Jaehwan later completes La-Hamad's Molting and realizes Ouroboros, he learns that the capability was already within him; realization, rather than possession of a detachable object, makes it usable. The awakened Eye appears as a serpent biting its tail within Jaehwan's left iris. He uses it to read and restore the damaged Record of the Abyss, manifest or shed Clothes, and draw power from the alternate Jaehwans those Clothes contain. Cognitive Dissonance helps him defeat Jerome by allowing those existences to contribute their belief and power. (Chapters 206–220)

Jaehwan later uses the Eye against Maiad van Declan and during the passage to Panopticon. It resonates with Deus Ex Machina, resists extreme time density, and supplies a counter to copied Three Divine Artifacts, although Maiad's far greater World Power can still overwhelm it. Maiad also creates an incomplete imitation through Truth Desecration. (Chapters 231–247)

Properties and use

Gestalt's Eye sees the Clothes that shape every existence and destroys rules and illusions built from them. Its Innate Setting, Cognitive Dissonance, lets apparently incompatible Clothes coexist as sources of belief, adding their base World Power to Jaehwan's own. It also permits deliberate Clothes Shedding and the creation or erasure of outward Clothes. (Chapters 206, 209, 220)

The Eye can reconstruct missing relationships rather than merely improve sight. It restores the fragmented history inside the Record of the Abyss, helps Jaehwan perceive the Links and versions that constitute a person, and slows his experienced flow of time during combat. These effects require the completed Ouroboros insight represented by the serpent consuming its tail. (Chapters 206–220)

Its power remains conditional. The supply of additional World Power depends on Jaehwan retaining Clothes and their belief, incomplete Ouroboros does not grant the true Eye, and Cognitive Dissonance raises base power rather than multiplying it as Deus Ex Machina's Deus Setting does. It cannot by itself overcome a sufficiently large World Power gap or reveal every secret of Panopticon. (Chapters 206, 222, 232–240)
