Robe of Dominance

The Robe of Dominance is one of Fernando's two personal legendary items. He earns it from the Congress of Magic through a paradigm-shifting theoretical contribution and later improves it with rare materials, making the robe both a mark of scholarly achievement and a valuable reserve he refuses to waste casually. History

Congress reward and personal refinement

The Congress obtains legendary items through expeditions, ancient remains, and later alchemical manufacture, then permits members to exchange sufficient wealth or extraordinary contributions for them. Fernando earns the Robe of Dominance under the rule that recognizes a paradigm-shifting theoretical system as such a contribution. The corpus does not identify the robe's original maker or the theory that paid for it, but it clearly treats the exchange as the basis of Fernando's personal claim rather than a short-term loan. Fernando subsequently improves the robe with precious materials. Hellen uses his work as the example when she explains to Lucien that legendary equipment can grow after acquisition, though improvement can fail. No chapter supplies the robe's original or later numbered level, so its increase cannot be quantified safely. (Chapter 576)

The unworn robe at Rentato

Church intelligence identifies the Robe of Dominance and the Eye of Storm as Fernando's two legendary items during the battle around Rentato. Melmax initially cannot tell whether Fernando wears the robe because Fernando has not yet been pushed into obvious mortal danger. When the visible magic robe fails to protect Fernando from being cut into three pieces, Melmax realizes that it is not the Robe of Dominance and understands that Fernando has also withheld the Eye of Storm. The apparent failure therefore belongs to a different robe and must not be used as evidence that the Robe of Dominance malfunctioned. (Chapters 559 and 562)

Fernando later explains his resource choice. The ambush relies on rare one-use mirrors and puppets; had those substitutes not been available, he says he would have brought the Robe of Dominance and sacrificed it to stall the five saints. In that hypothetical case, he would have expected the Congress to compensate him with another legendary item. He retains the robe instead, showing that its absence was tactical conservation, not loss or transfer. (Chapter 566)

Armed caution in the Realm of Gates

When Fernando and Douglas open a gate in the Realm of Gates and detect two unknown people beyond it, Fernando has the Robe of Dominance, the Eye of Storm, and Abrupt Magic Reverse ready before identifying Lucien. The moment confirms that the genuine robe remains usable and in Fernando's possession after the Rentato operation. The local corpus gives no later destruction, sacrifice, or transfer, so this is its latest explicit custody state. (Chapter 627)

Abilities and properties

• The Robe of Dominance is a legendary magic robe and can be improved with precious materials. Fernando has completed at least one such improvement, but the corpus supplies neither its numbered level nor the material used. (Chapter 576)
• Fernando considers sacrificing the robe capable of stalling five saints during a planned trap. This establishes high defensive or delaying value, but it is a proposed use rather than a demonstrated activation, and the text does not explain the mechanism, duration, or spell involved. (Chapter 566)
• An enemy expects the real robe's protection to become evident only when Fernando is in sufficient danger. The robe actually worn when he is cut apart does not function because it is not the Robe of Dominance; that scene reveals Fernando's deception, not a weakness of the artifact. (Chapters 559 and 562)
• Fernando can hold the robe ready together with another legendary item and a prepared spell in a hazardous environment. Beyond that readiness, the corpus does not name its active effects, passive protections, charge limits, cooldowns, or counters. (Chapter 627)
• Despite their similar names and form, the Robe of Dominance is Fernando's personal item and is not the Robe of Grand Arcanists later chosen by Lucien. The corpus treats them as distinct artifacts with separate ownership histories. (Chapters 566 and 576)
