Sammy
Sammy is Donnie's roommate and a gifted young necromancer distinguished by the pale ghost permanently attached to his back. His easygoing sleepiness contrasts with his competence in spirits and souls, and he becomes one of the students drawn into the nightmares surrounding the World of Souls remnant. (Chapters 825–846)
Biography
Study, friendship, and shared nightmares
Sammy has already earned admission to Heidler when Donnie is still deciding where to apply. He explains why necromancy and genetics offer a viable path, accepts Donnie's decision without trying to control it, and becomes his roommate at the college. Although habitually drowsy, he notices social and magical anomalies that others overlook, including the suspicious public knowledge of Robert's supposedly secret ability. When the roommates are pulled into repeated dreams, Sammy's instinct is often to heed warnings and avoid the danger, but he stays with the group once they choose to investigate. His ghost becomes more energetic inside the nightmare, and his familiarity with spirits helps the group move through an environment where their ordinary school protections cannot be assumed. By Chapter 846 he has become an official sorcerer before Donnie, confirming that the sleepiness masks real aptitude rather than indifference to study. (Chapters 825–846)
Appearance and personality
Sammy is pale, with messy hair like a bird's nest and swollen or bloated-looking eyes. He yawns frequently, treats sleep as life's greatest entertainment, and rarely talks to girls at school, though he relaxes around Shirley. Beneath that comic lethargy he is observant, loyal, and cautious about unexplained danger. (Chapters 825, 827, 834, 836, and 838)
Magic, abilities, and skills
Sammy is strongest in ghosts, spirits, and souls and completes those examinations unusually quickly. A pale, fuzzy ghost clings to his back, chills the surrounding air, responds to his condition, and can possess or merge with him during supernatural encounters. The corpus does not explain how he acquired it or fully define their pact, so it should not be treated as an ordinary summoned servant. By Chapter 846 Sammy is an official sorcerer, but his exact circle spells are not listed. (Chapters 825, 831, 836, and 846)
Relationships
- Donnie: Sammy is Donnie's roommate, adviser, and companion through the Heidler entrance process and the shared nightmares. His steadiness and specialist knowledge complement Donnie's anxious curiosity. (Chapters 825–846)
