Camil

Camil, known as Blue Tide, is Natasha Violet's aunt, confidante, and long-serving royal guardian. A water-aspected radiant knight and intelligence adviser, she combines personal devotion with a cautious understanding of court and Church politics. Her role develops from protecting a young princess in Aalto to helping that princess govern Holm, conceal a dangerous alliance, and preserve a private family circle amid continent-wide conflict.

Biography

Guarding the princess and containing the Argent Horn threat

Camil appears at Natasha's side as both chaperone and security authority. Her reserve protects the princess's privacy, but her trust is not automatic: when Lucien confesses that kidnappers have forced him to spy, Camil turns the practice room into an isolated underwater space and personally examines his awakened blood power. She confirms the intelligence department's background report, recognizes that the department itself may be compromised, and supports Lucien's slower plan when Natasha wants immediate arrests. Camil then gives him water-activated drops of her blood for covert communication, creating a channel the conspirators do not detect. The decision lets the royal side use Lucien's information without alerting the captors or abandoning the hostages. (Chapters 68, 77–83)

When the Argent Horn location is narrowed down, Camil leads the response with senior clergy. Her arrival as Blue Tide crushes a great priest's position under a descending column of water and forces the remaining heretics to destroy evidence and flee. She then continues the internal investigation after the compromised intelligence chief kills himself. The victory does not end her burden. During Verdi's later coup, Natasha is cut off in the Melzer Black Forest while Camil searches from another direction; by the time Camil reaches her, she is carrying the rescued Wyon and Cacharel. Camil immediately recognizes Natasha's breakthrough to radiant knight and expresses pride, but the episode also shows the limit of even constant guardianship: a coordinated conspiracy can separate her from the person she protects. From Aalto guardian to Holm confidante

Camil resumes her familiar place behind Natasha after Lucien's return, moving so quietly that she is compared to a shadow and remaining present through meetings where the princess's public and private lives overlap. She accompanies Natasha into the dangerous Husum alternate dimension and helps bind the Lord of War with a tide attack while stronger enemies distort the battlefield. When the Demigod-lich's ritual begins draining life across the area, Natasha shields Camil, and Lucien and Natasha deliberately draw the lich's attention so Camil can escape toward a Congress liaison circle. Camil survives not through invulnerability but through coordinated protection and withdrawal after death power overwhelms the group's ordinary defenses. (Chapters 283–302 and 485–490)

After Natasha becomes queen of Holm, Camil is one of the few people allowed to see the exhaustion behind her controlled public demeanor. She helps secure rooms before private conversation, advises on unknown allies and enemies, and identifies Natasha's feelings for Lucien before Natasha can name them herself. Camil fears that she may have chosen the wrong moment or disappointed the grand duke, yet she responds to Natasha's alarm by affirming that love is not invalidated by sex. Once Natasha decides to act, Camil shifts from warning to practical guidance. She distrusts an early test of Sard, urges delay until the queen has loyal supporters, and nevertheless covers the traces after Natasha and Lucien make their relationship explicit. Her loyalty is therefore not passive agreement: she states risks, then helps carry an irrevocable decision safely. (Chapters 501–523)

Poisoned court, royal family, and final refuge

Camil's vigilance is specifically targeted during the liberal nobles' gathering. She neither eats nor drinks, but a poison-and-curse attack is split between contaminated wine and a flower fragrance so that each vector looks harmless alone. The combined Helpless Kiss prevents her Blue Tide transformation and drops her alongside the nobles. Her inability to resist is a consequence of the prepared senior-rank mixture, not inattention to ordinary court precautions. Lucien and Natasha survive long enough to reverse the attack, and Kritonia later removes the remaining poison. Camil returns to Natasha's side as the queen turns the assassination into a public case against rogue night watchers and the Church's failure to control them. (Chapters 533–540)

Camil remains part of the family Natasha openly chooses. Wedding plans include her with the royal household, and later references place her among the relatives protected by Lucien and Natasha rather than merely among palace staff. During the devil crisis, Natasha states that Camil has been kept under their protection and bars uncertain nobles from entering the Atomic Universe. The corpus does not narrate a final independent action by Camil after that point, but it establishes that she is alive and inside the trusted circle whose safety Natasha is prepared to enforce by lethal force. Appearance and personality

Camil is a middle-aged woman with blue eyes, usually dressed in black. Her face is frequently described as cold, solemn, or rigid, and she can stand behind Natasha with so little visible presence that she seems to merge with the princess's shadow. When exercising water power, her eyes shine and her body may become transparent before turning into seawater. (Chapters 68, 82, 283, 485, 517, and 523)

Her severity is matched by discretion, patience, and practical affection. Camil interrupts Natasha when a conversation threatens private gossip, tests even a trusted informant, and consistently prefers preparation to heroic improvisation. She is also emotionally perceptive: she reads Natasha's attachment to Lucien from behavior rather than declarations and knows when blunt analysis must give way to reassurance. Although she objects to dangerous political choices, she rarely undermines Natasha after a decision is made. This mixture of independent judgment and follow-through makes her a confidante rather than only a bodyguard. (Chapters 78, 82, 91, 511, 517–523)

Blood power, abilities, and skills

Camil is a radiant knight whose water-aspected blood power is known as Blue Tide. She is identified as level seven during the Argent Horn operation and as level eight during the later Holm assassination attempt. The progression record preserves those two fixed observations without inventing an attainment chapter for the intervening rise. (Chapters 86, 152, and 534)

Blue Tide water transformation

Camil can transform her body into seawater and expand that water into a controlled domain. In Ratacia Palace, the transformation fills a sealed room without leaking, lets the people inside breathe, blocks outside observation, and carries Camil's voice from multiple directions. She can also examine an awakened blood power within the domain. The effect is both security measure and supernatural extension of her body rather than ordinary flooding. It is not unbreakable concealment: Camil still checks for spies and uses a separate covert channel when communication must occur outside the protected room. (Chapter 82)

In battle, Blue Tide can manifest on a far larger scale. Camil reverses the image of sea and sky and sends a massive water column down onto a great priest, interrupting him and forcing the Argent Horn cell into retreat. In Husum, darkness becomes a descending sea that helps constrain a level-nine opponent while allies maintain the principal binding defense. These demonstrations establish force, aerial reach, and battlefield control, but not an ability to defeat every senior-rank enemy alone. Against the false gods and the Demigod-lich, Camil works as part of a group and must retreat once life-draining power overtakes their defenses. (Chapters 86 and 485–490)

Radiant-knight body and mobility

As a radiant knight, Camil can fly without visible equipment and exert an aura strong enough that Lucien compares the pressure of a near-senior sorcerer to the threat he felt from her activated blood power. Her rank gives her the speed and endurance to search the Black Forest, carry two unconscious people to safety, and remain beside Natasha in high-level operations. The corpus does not describe a signature sword technique or a detailed melee style; her clearest combat applications remain water transformation, suppression, transport, and protection. (Chapters 90, 135, 152, and 283)

Her physical power does not confer universal resistance. The Demigod-lich's ritual slows Camil nearly to immobility and drains life even through the group's defenses. Helpless Kiss stops the first ripples of her attempted transformation and causes complete collapse despite her avoiding food and drink. A prepared combination of senior-rank poison and curse can therefore disable her before Blue Tide is established, while overwhelming death power can force reliance on an ally's shield and an escape plan. Water-linked communication and security work

Camil can store drops of her blood in sapphire-like form and use water to create temporary mental communication at a distance. Lucien activates one drop in a cup, receives her voice directly in his mind, and passes a location without observers detecting the exchange. Camil states that only someone at least as powerful as a level-seven knight who is personally monitoring him should be able to notice it. The drops are finite and prepared in advance, so the method is a covert emergency channel rather than unrestricted telepathy. (Chapters 82–83)

Her noncombat competence includes protective screening, intelligence coordination, political risk assessment, and court discretion. She checks staff backgrounds, notices when an intelligence service may be compromised, helps secure the Nekso Palace for private discussion, and distinguishes opposition before a plan from sabotage after a sovereign decision. The same skills have limits: infiltrators still penetrate the duchy's intelligence apparatus, and a carefully divided poison attack defeats normal precautions. Camil's strength lies in recognizing those failures and continuing protection after the immediate breach. (Chapters 82–91, 511, and 523–540)

• Natasha Violet: Natasha trusts Camil with her life and addresses her as an aunt. Camil protects her physically, challenges impulsive plans, interprets her private feelings, and remains part of the family Natasha defends at the supplied endpoint.
• Lucien Evans: Camil initially subjects Lucien to security checks and uses him as a covert informant against Argent Horn. Over time she accepts his bond with Natasha, helps conceal it from hostile institutions, and comes under the joint protection of the couple she once supervised.
• Sard: Camil distrusts Natasha and Lucien's attempt to test Sard before the queen has built a secure base. His later betrayal vindicates the caution, though Camil's loyalty leads her to help cover the test after Natasha commits to it.
• Kritonia: Kritonia is part of the dangerous Holm security structure Camil and Natasha must navigate. He later relieves the poison incapacitating Camil, but his alliance with Sard prevents that rescue from becoming evidence of dependable loyalty.
