Shield of Frozen Vengeance

The Shield of Frozen Vengeance is the second of two integrated magitech prototypes built by Dominic and Duskblade Sect researchers. It adapts the first shield's combined amplification, mana-support, and offensive circuitry into a higher-level personal shield decorated for Alexis as Princess, Royal Paladin, and commander of Wistover's forces. (Chapters 418–422)

History

A shield for Wistover's commander

After the Shield of Avenging Might validates the shared design, Dominic makes the second face more distinguished than a standard military shield. He spends additional time carving Alexis's personal heraldry into the clay mould before transforming the piece into mana steel, reasoning that her equipment should identify her command status unless she intentionally travels in disguise. (Chapter 422)

Dominic installs the same six-layer integrated circuitry and three-orb system used by the first prototype. He then selects a Yeti Core whose affinity feels particularly close to ice, saving half for later use, and enchants the shield with the remainder. The completed item is identified as Rare Grade and Level 21, six levels above the Minotaur-core prototype made immediately before it. (Chapters 420–422)

Properties and use

  • Integrated effects: Three permanent magitech orbs share a single circuit network, combining spell amplification, mana collection, and an offensive effect in one shield. (Chapters 419–422)
  • Heraldic face: Alexis's personal heraldry is built into the shield rather than added as a generic painted field, distinguishing it from planned versions for rank-and-file guards. (Chapter 422)
  • Ice-affinity enchantment: A carefully selected Yeti Core supplies the final enchantment and gives the shield its frozen identity. The corpus does not provide a later demonstration that isolates the exact combat effect of that affinity. (Chapter 422)
  • Rare Grade, Level 21: Its stronger core produces a higher-level result than the Level 15 Shield of Avenging Might, though item level alone does not determine every bonus or spell interaction. (Chapters 421–422)
  • Repair-conscious design: The circuitry uses direct, clearly written connections so another qualified craftsman can diagnose the system rather than depending exclusively on its creators. (Chapter 420)
