Thorn of Steel

The Thorn of Steel is a black-tinged, spiked meteorite mace that becomes Chung Chohong's signature weapon. Seol Jihu obtains it as part of Carpe Diem's equipment upgrade, and Chohong immediately recognizes it as a High Ranker-grade replacement for the weapon she could barely afford to change.

History

A weapon fitted to Chohong

The mace is introduced among equipment selected for Carpe Diem during Jang Maldong's return to training. It is forged from meteorite material, carries a +2 appraisal, and feels so well matched to Chohong that she refuses to relinquish it once she grips it. Seol's provision of the weapon lets her redirect limited savings toward armor and strengthens the team without creating a dispute over shared loot. (Chapters 55–56)

Carpe Diem and Valhalla's wars

Chohong carries the Thorn of Steel through the Banquet aftermath, Arden Valley, Valhalla's expeditions, and the final war. Its crushing blows suit her close-range Templar and later Valkyrie style, while its durability allows it to strike barriers or stronger weapons without immediately failing. The weapon also follows her emotional history: after Seol's apparent death, she clutches and finally drops it as grief displaces the impulse to charge back into enemy territory. (Chapters 68–197)

In the latest supplied events, the mace remains with Chohong in Valhalla. The corpus never records a transfer, destruction, or replacement, so its current status is active rather than lost or retired. (Chapters 197, 252)

Abilities and properties

• Refined meteorite gives the mace roughly ten times the hardness of ordinary steel. (Chapter 55)
• An enchantment doubles its attack power when a blow successfully connects. The corpus does not establish that a miss, blocked swing, or environmental impact receives the same benefit. (Chapter 55)
• Its heavy spiked head supports crushing and tearing attacks, but the item does not remove Chohong's need for physical strength, timing, and class techniques. (Chapters 56, 68, 145, 197)
