Festina Earring

The Festina Earring is a saintess's artifact recovered during Seol Jihu's first Paradise expedition. Once Ian Denzel appraises it and Seol becomes its first wearer, it binds to him and becomes a recurring component of his speed-based spear style.

History

A reward from the Forest of Denial

Seol receives the earring after choosing to appease the resentment surrounding a sealed tomb rather than treating its burial goods as simple treasure. Ian identifies it as the Festina Earring and warns that the first person to put it on becomes its bound user. Seol keeps it as his independent reward, and its mobility proves useful almost immediately in missions where speed matters more than direct force. (Chapters 28–31, 41–46)

Training and battlefield use

The earring's boost fits Seol's developing preference for explosive advances, but Jang Maldong refuses to let an artifact substitute for footwork or bodily control. Seol learns to combine it with Flash Step and later Flash Thunder, using the added acceleration to close distance, rescue allies, or create the momentum for a decisive thrust. Those combinations also expose its limitations: acceleration does not cancel inertia, his body must withstand every change in speed, and consuming all available activations early can leave him without the tool when a battle changes. (Chapters 56–93)

In later battles Seol can trigger its three activations in rapid succession to pursue targets who would otherwise escape. The artifact remains valuable after his class and physical growth, but it is one component among training, movement abilities, perception, and the Spear of Purity rather than the source of his overall speed. (Chapters 126, 163, 179, 186)

Abilities and properties

  • Infusing mana activates Boost, raising the wearer's overall speed to roughly one and a half times normal for about one minute. (Chapter 30)
  • The earring binds to its first wearer; the supplied corpus does not establish a safe method of transferring that bond. (Chapter 30)
  • It supports three activations before its available uses are exhausted. Seol can trigger them separately or in quick succession, but stacking acceleration increases the demands placed on his body and control. (Chapters 68, 126, 179)
  • It combines effectively with Flash Step and Flash Thunder, yet those combinations retain the limits of momentum, physical durability, mana, and timing. (Chapters 80–93, 163)
