Ego Te Defendere
The Ego Te Defendere is a nearly transparent cloak made from World Tree material and given to Seol Jihu by Vidalif after the Spirit Realm and Tigol Fortress campaign. It functions as self-repairing armor and carries a once-daily defensive blessing that briefly shifts its wearer into the Spirit Realm.
History
A Federation gift
The cloak is presented after Seol helps restore the World Tree and defend the Federation. Its gift records a changed political relationship: an Earthling who once entered the Federation's territory as a distrusted outsider leaves with protection fashioned from the civilization he helped preserve. Seol incorporates it into his equipment for the later war rather than treating it as a ceremonial token. (Chapter 154)
The Imperial Oath battle
During the battle against the Army Commanders, the cloak's Blessing of the World Tree saves Seol from an otherwise lethal strike by moving his body and soul out of the attack's plane for one second. The effect depends on timing and is expended after that use; it cannot be repeated whenever danger returns. The cloak therefore creates a single opening in a prolonged battle rather than making Seol untouchable. (Chapters 179, 186)
Abilities and properties
- The cloak acts as armor while remaining light and difficult to see, and it carries physical, magical, status, and disguise-related protections described in its appraisal. (Chapter 154)
- Its material repairs ordinary damage over time rather than remaining permanently torn. (Chapter 154)
- Blessing of the World Tree shifts the wearer's body and soul into the Spirit Realm for one second, allowing an attack in the Middle World to pass without effect. (Chapter 179)
- The blessing can be used once per day and requires correct activation timing; it is not continuous intangibility. (Chapters 154, 179)
