Blessing of the Circum

The Blessing of the Circum is a golden defensive bracelet used by Seol Jihu. It produces three circular shields with different protective functions and becomes one of the artifacts he layers around his high-risk spear style.

History

Training and early campaigns

Seol possesses the bracelet by the period in which Jang Maldong begins directing his combat development. It supports survival without replacing the bodily foundation Jang demands: the shields can intercept danger, but their duration and limited daily uses mean Seol must still read attacks, move correctly, and decide which threat warrants an activation. He carries it through the Arden campaign and later expeditions as part of his regular equipment. (Chapters 55, 85–108)

Battles against superior enemies

The bracelet repeatedly buys Seol a narrow margin against attacks that would otherwise disable or kill him. In the Pagoda region it demonstrates that a curse can destroy a shield within seconds; against Vulgar Chastity it blocks poisonous or supernatural harm while Seol commits to close range. By the Imperial Oath expedition, Black Seol requires him to remove artifact advantages during training, underscoring that the bracelet is external protection rather than permanent mastery. (Chapters 108, 163, 179–186)

Abilities and properties

  • Mana summons three circular shields associated with protection from physical, magical, and divinatory or witchcraft attacks. (Chapters 55, 85–88)
  • An activation lasts up to about ten seconds, but a shield can break earlier when the incoming effect exceeds its protection. (Chapters 86, 108)
  • The bracelet can be activated three times in a day, and its shields cannot be indefinitely layered to remove that limit. (Chapters 55, 179)
  • It protects the wearer only when activated and timed appropriately; it does not grant constant immunity or eliminate the need for perception and movement. (Chapters 85–108, 179)
