Goh Yeonju
Goh Yeonju is the Shadow Queen, a powerful resident of SY Apartments and one of the people guarding Kim Soohyun's household. She first opposes investigation into the household, then becomes a useful Earth-side neighbor to Seol Jihu.
Biography
Suspicion and neighborly alliance
When Kim Hannah investigates Kim Soohyun's circle, Goh detects the covert inquiry, infiltrates Kim's shadow, immobilizes her, destroys the collected evidence, and enters her mind. She releases Kim alive as a warning, but remains determined to keep Seol away from the household even after other members become curious about him. Seol's persistence and the group's eventual reconciliation change that stance. Goh apologizes for obstructing him, gives him a costly bottle of liquor, and offers to solve problems that trouble him on Earth. She later uses hypnosis at his request and helps his household preserve a deception intended to protect his family. (Chapters 213–215, 219, 225, 234–235)
The postwar side story never makes Goh a member of Valhalla or a participant in Paradise's main war. Instead, her consequence is local but important: she becomes part of the safe Earth-side community around Seol and someone he can call when ordinary institutions cannot contain supernatural problems. A later conversation places the Shadow Queen among the extraordinary figures Kim Soohyun could send into another world, but no such deployment occurs in the supplied corpus. (Chapters 219, 225, 234–235, 251)
Appearance and personality
Goh is a gray-eyed woman with wavy bangs and a soft-looking hand. She dresses confidently, teases Seol on first meeting, and uses flirtation as both amusement and a test. Her playful surface coexists with severe territorial caution: she is obstinate about threats to her household and frighteningly controlled when interrogating Kim Hannah. Once convinced that Seol is not an enemy, she is sociable, apologetic, and generous. (Chapters 214–215, 219, 234)
Abilities and class
Goh manipulates shadows for concealment, restraint, surveillance, and mental intrusion. She can act through another person's shadow without being detected, suppress movement, erase or disrupt memories, and hypnotize an ordinary Earth resident for several days. Her Eyes of Charm influence attention, though Seol resists their intended effect, and she moves quietly enough to appear behind him before he consciously notices. The title Shadow Queen and later divine comparisons establish exceptional power, but the corpus does not provide a numbered class, complete technique list, or precise upper limit. (Chapters 213–214, 225, 251)
Relationships
- Seol Jihu: Goh initially treats Seol as a possible danger to her household, then becomes his neighbor and an Earth-side ally he trusts with delicate favors. (Chapters 214–215, 219, 225, 234–235)
- Kim Hannah: Goh punishes Kim's secret investigation but deliberately leaves her alive; the encounter ends the inquiry and warns Valhalla not to probe further. (Chapters 213–214)
- Ahn Sol: Ahn's confidence that meeting Seol will help the household challenges Goh's effort to keep him away and contributes to the eventual reconciliation. (Chapters 215, 219)
Items
Goh gives Seol an expensive bottle of liquor as an apology, but it is not a named or manifest-listed personal item. (Chapter 219)
