Mask of the Fallen King

The Mask of the Fallen King is the wooden mask Jake received from the tutorial's Records of the King of the Forest, later revealed as a vessel for the Fallen King's Truesoul and ultimately remade as a mirrored mask.

History

Legacy of the tutorial

The system returned the blank, wood-textured mask to Jake among the possessions he had used during the tutorial. It was already soulbound and granted exceptional mana benefits, self-repair, and unobstructed sight. After Jake's evolution to D-grade, its description changed to state that a Fallen King slumbered within. Jake consequently understood that the King of the Forest might not have died completely, while the mask itself continued serving as his regular head equipment. (Chapters 111 and 196)

The Fallen King's vessel

The consciousness within the mask first spoke clearly during the Treasure Hunt, then used Jake's mana and soul bond to rebuild a vessel once Jake had surpassed the level at which the King originally fell. The mask became a Unique item containing the Fallen King's Truesoul. Jake remained its system-recognized owner and could summon the Fallen King through it, but the King operated as an allied, independent lifeform rather than as property despite the binding mechanics. Death and mirrored restoration

After the Fallen King's later death, the mask still held his Records, Truesoul, and final intent and could continue growing with Jake. Yggdrasil eventually restored the Unique Lifeform as the Golden Forest King: the true mask returned to the King's new vessel, while Yggdrasil rebuilt the destroyed mirror mask from her wood and transferred the relevant Records and Jake's soul bond into it. Jake's resulting item was renamed the Mask of the Golden Forest King and now carries a mirrored Truesoul rather than custody of the King's sole true soul. (Chapters 984 and 1151)

Abilities and properties

• The original mask did not obstruct Jake's vision, regenerated from damage through its Living Wood property, passively absorbed atmospheric mana to greatly improve mana recovery, and increased his maximum mana by twenty-five percent. (Chapter 111)
• Once the Fallen King reconstituted himself, the original mask served as the anchor and vessel of his Truesoul. Its soulbound owner could summon him across effectively unrestricted distance, although the summon required a casting period. These vessel and summoning mechanics were superseded when the bond was reworked during the later restoration. (Chapter 378)
• After the King's death, the Unique mask's description stated that his Truesoul and final intent remained within and allowed the item to keep growing as Jake grew. Attempts to improve it with an ordinary upgrade resource were understood to be ineffective because of its unique origins. (Chapters 852 and 984)
• The remade Mask of the Golden Forest King is near-indestructible, regenerates from damage, does not obstruct vision, retains the atmospheric mana recovery and twenty-five-percent maximum-mana increase, and significantly empowers nobility-related abilities while worn. (Chapter 1151)
• Its current mirrored Truesoul draws from the Golden Forest King's true body and lets the mask grow in tandem with him. If Jake dies, the mirror returns to the King rather than injuring him; if the King dies, the mirror can act as a conduit for regeneration, though sufficiently severe damage may still require powerful outside assistance. (Chapter 1151)
• The mirror is a soulbound copy linked to the true mask, not a second independent Fallen King. The text describes one identity represented through the connected masks and explicitly distinguishes Jake's restored ownership from the true mask incorporated into the King's body. (Chapter 1151)

Ownership and custody
