Gloves of the Malefic One’s Grace
The Gloves of the Malefic One’s Grace are Legacy-gated combat gloves that reinforce Jake Thayne's hands and amplify Scales of the Malefic Viper, first through wyvern materials and later through a stronger True Dragon replacement.
History
Legacy-vault purchase
Seeking durable gloves that increased physical attributes, Jake selected a lightly built black pair patterned with thin scales from an Order vault reserved for those recognized by the Malefic Viper's Legacy. He paid the deliberately subsidized price after proving that his Scales of the Malefic Viper met the legendary-rarity requirement. The apex-wyvern construction and its direct interaction with his defensive skill made the gloves one of his most valuable D-grade equipment pieces. (Chapter 518)
Exchange after C-grade
After evolving, Jake realized the original gloves were neither soulbound nor damaged and returned them under the vault's one-item exchange policy. He unbound the old pair and received another entry from the same crafted series, visually distinguished by larger, tougher-looking scales and made from a young venom-specialized True Dragon rather than an apex wyvern. The replacement preserved the same core enchantment while raising its level requirement and physical attribute bonuses. (Chapters 626 and 633)
Abilities and properties
- The original legendary pair is made from an apex wyvern's hide, scales, toxic blood, and refined core. It grants balanced Toughness, Vitality, Strength, Agility, and Endurance and is sufficiently resilient to serve as medium armor despite its thin construction. (Chapter 518)
- Both versions allow Scales of the Malefic Viper to be cast directly onto the gloves at significantly increased effect. While the skill is active, the gloves also increase the effect of the attributes they grant. (Chapters 518, 626, and 633)
- Use is gated by both humanoid-race level and demonstrated proficiency in Scales of the Malefic Viper at legendary rarity or better. The vault attendant will not release a usable pair merely on affiliation alone. (Chapters 518 and 633)
- The C-grade replacement uses a young True Dragon specialized in venom and raises each of its five physical attribute bonuses. It is a distinct exchanged pair in the same series, not a transformation of the returned wyvern gloves. (Chapter 633)
- The gloves are conventional bound equipment rather than soulbound artifacts: Jake can deliberately unbind and return an intact pair, but loses their granted attributes during that process. (Chapter 633)
