The Floor Climb and Challenge Dungeons

Temlat begins as an escaped, collared servant from a dystopian megacity, driven by hatred of the noble who treated him as a pet but terrified of Jake’s connection to the Malefic Viper. Jake reframes fear as a choice to pursue strength, takes him in, and provides books, curse-energy exposure, combat pressure, and freedom to define his own Path. Temlat grows from a nearly C-grade half-elf into a focused student, then returns home to decide whether his hatred remains justified. Finding his old comrades embittered and the society unchanged, he sacrifices the cell to fuel his evolution rather than abandon revenge. (Chapters 808–823)

Temlat emerges as a Cursed Plague Remnant of Wrath, retains his own mind, kills the noble who enslaved him, and spreads a curse that turns resentment against authority across the planet. After a week of slaughter, he concludes that his revenge is complete but recognizes that the insatiable Sin Curse will soon consume his identity. He asks Jake to let him die while still himself and to preserve his Records through Eternal Hunger. Jake grants the request; Temlat dies without regret, while the experience leaves Jake far more cautious about teaching and volatile transformation. (Chapters 824–829, 1179, 1212)

Appearance and personality

Temlat initially appears as a young half-elf, despite being nearly three hundred years old; the corpus does not establish hair, eye, or skin color. His face turns white when frightened, and he later hides altered curse energy beneath a hood. He develops from traumatized and deferential into focused, vengeful, self-directed, and sincerely grateful. Temlat naturally generates curse energy from hatred and initially receives a system skill after his emotions awaken it. Jake teaches him to treat curses as specialized alchemy, exposes him to Eternal Hunger’s higher-ranked energy, and subjects him to resistance and combat training. He learns to hide his level, prepare curse rituals, store a nascent plague in a dagger, and reaches level 195 before evolution. (Chapters 809–823)

His evolution fuses a curse remnant with a plague spirit into the level-200 Cursed Plague Remnant of Wrath. The cursed plague spreads through infected people, amplifies anger toward authority, and feeds Temlat through infection and death, raising him to level 248 within a week. Mental discipline can resist it, and Jake’s Palate and Sin Curse neutralize it; when Temlat dies, the entire curse and plague vanish from surviving hosts. Most importantly, Wrath is insatiable and Temlat cannot separate himself from it, forcing endless new targets or eventual self-destruction. (Chapters 824–826)

Relationships

• Jake Thayne is Temlat’s teacher, liberator, witness, and eventual executioner by consent. Jake’s refusal to dictate a Path gives Temlat agency but insufficient warning, making the relationship a lasting lesson in the responsibilities of mentorship.
