Hunting Grounds and B-grade evolution
After watching Jake kill the Simivita Warlord, the Sovereign uses the dying ape's restraint to ambush him, compelled by a Path that demands vengeance for slain kin. Its sound-guided ranged pressure, patience, and sudden close-quarters assault push Jake into retreat, but the Sovereign later refuses a rematch after judging the risk fatal. It instead helps locate the Forest Fae, joins Jake against the Fae and Darkwood Chimera to improve its own standing, and emerges positioned to raise a successor before leaving the Hunting Ground. Later reports name it the planet's strongest B-grade, showing that its pragmatic retreat and alliance secured the advancement it sought without abandoning its clan. (Chapters 1116–1129 and 1177)
Appearance and personality
The Sovereign is a large rainbow-colored, ostrich-like songbird with long clawed legs, clawed hands, a beak, and feathers that can become slick defensive armor.
