Neil

Neil is the leader and spatial specialist of a five-person party that survives its Tutorial intact, reaches Haven while fleeing a rival claimant to Kallox’s legacy, and becomes one of the settlement’s most reliable adventuring groups.

Biography

The Kallox legacy and Haven

Neil reaches Haven after repeated long-range teleports exhaust the ingredients needed for another escape. His cousin Abby wants the Orb of Kallox that Neil won through a final party trial, while one of his companions is badly cursed and the group can no longer remain safely on the run. Neil chooses to trust Miranda’s settlement, helps prepare its defenses, and accepts Jake’s decisive intervention when Abby attacks. That choice ends the pursuit and gives his tightly bonded party a stable home rather than another temporary refuge. (Chapters 145–151)

From Haven, Neil keeps leading the same party through dungeons, the Treasure Hunt, planetary crises, and defensive contingencies. His spatial magic makes him useful beyond combat: he prepares an emergency escape circle during Ell’Hakan’s assault and later becomes capable of creating spatial-storage equipment. By the return from Nevermore, Neil is the only original member of the five to have reached C-grade in time to participate there; the others increasingly settle into civilian or support roles, leaving him as the party member who continues the original progression-focused path. (Chapters 216–227, 318–337, 389, 522, and 915–916)

Appearance and personality

At his introduction, Neil is a pale young man with listless-looking eyes, a golden-rune robe, and a concealed necklace. He is courteous and cautious with strangers, but the decisions of his group usually fall to him. His guilt becomes pronounced when his choices endanger others, while his companions’ continued loyalty shows that his leadership is collaborative rather than imposed. (Chapters 145–148)

Path, class, and abilities

Neil begins as a kinetic caster whose Kallox-derived class develops toward space magic. His strongest demonstrated functions are displacement, teleportation, ritual construction, and spatial crafting.

Spatial circles and displacement

Neil can shift forces, suspend objects, distort trajectories, and teleport his full party across very large distances. The greatest jumps require a prepared circle and consumed ingredients, which means repeated escapes eventually leave the group unable to move again without replenishment. He later applies the same spatial understanding to barriers, emergency evacuation circles, and storage devices; crafting those devices requires D-grade materials and capability rather than being an effortless extension of his combat magic. (Chapters 145–148, 166, 522, and 915)

Relationships

  • Miranda Wells: Miranda gives Neil’s party refuge and repeatedly relies on his spatial expertise in Haven’s expeditions and emergency plans.
  • Jake Thayne: Jake ends Abby’s pursuit, accepts Neil’s group into Haven, and later fights beside them in planetary events.
  • Christen, Eleanor, Levi, and Silas: Neil’s longstanding party; their teamwork wins the Kallox trial and remains the basis of his leadership even as several members later retire from dangerous progression.
