The Tutorial and faction war
Dennis entered the Tutorial as a Light Warrior alongside his cousin Lina, with whom he maintained energetic arguments that could continue for days. Although his throwing daggers were not reliable enough for the group's first long-ranged ambush, he eagerly carried prey, alerted Caroline when Joanna awakened, shared watch duty, and later fought directly in the group's hunts. Richard eventually separated Dennis and Lina from Jacob's regular party. Both were stronger than Jacob when they parted, but their new group was ambushed and killed as William's attacks drove Richard and Hayden's camps into war. (Chapters 4–5, 7–8, 10–11, 23, 28)
