Huashang Fruit
The Huashang Fruit is the White Banyan Fox's prized medicine, given to Li Tongya after his Dao and body suffer catastrophic injury. It restores substantial vitality and battle strength, but cannot permanently repair the damaged cultivation that ultimately limits him.
History
A gift after the rejection of dark healing
The White Banyan Fox visits Tongya's cave and is shocked by his aged appearance and failing body. Ordinary medicines have done little. The fox proposes replacing organs and repeatedly restoring his Dao through human sacrifice; Tongya refuses because those methods cross the moral boundary established by his father. The disagreement is painful for an old friend who still hopes they will keep one another safe. (Chapter 333)
Rather than abandon him, the fox spits out a jade-bead-sized fruit emitting clear, cool light. It explains that Huashang increases mana and vitality and may give Tongya a few more years and some renewed strength. The fox departs without waiting for an answer, while Tongya remains holding the luminous gift. Lu Jiangxian subsequently sees it in his hands and supplies a separate talisman pill. The fruit's role is therefore a friend's costly attempt to help within Tongya's chosen limits, rather than the forbidden cure he has rejected. (Chapters 333–334)
Renewed strength before the final conflict
After consumption, the fruit's medicine spreads through Tongya's organs. Wrinkles fade and white hair becomes black, while surging true essence and renewed battle spirit lead him to choose flowing white robes. The improvement gives him an unusually vigorous appearance and substantial immediate fighting power during his confrontation with Yu Xiaogui. (Chapter 343)
The rejuvenation cannot stabilize everything beneath it. Huashang's mana clashes with Tongya's true essence, aggravating the damaged Boundless Ocean within him. Blood rises in his mouth, his vision becomes hazy, and he struggles for breath. The medicine supports his final effort without restoring an intact Immortal Foundation or guaranteeing survival. Once consumed, it no longer remains an unused resource available to the family. (Chapter 344)
Abilities and properties
- Appearance: A small luminous fruit, compared to a jade bead or night pearl, with clear and cool light. (Chapters 333–334)
- Vitality and mana: Increases vital strength and provides a powerful reserve of mana. The fox presents additional years of life as a possibility, rather than an assured permanent cure. (Chapter 333)
- Temporary rejuvenation: Its medicine removes visible wrinkles and restores black hair during Tongya's renewed combat. (Chapter 343)
- Foundation limit: An injured and unstable Immortal Foundation cannot safely assimilate all of its power. The resulting clash with true essence causes bleeding and impaired breath and vision. (Chapter 344)
