Yang Tianyou
Yang Tianyou is a daughter of the Yang Imperial Lineage and Li Jiangliang’s wife. She helps him secure trusted support for governing Mushroom Forest Plain and advises him as Yang-family policy takes shape, while remaining accountable to her own powerful elders. (Chapters 1545–1546, 1628, 1637–1638)
Biography
A Yang-family presence in Mushroom Forest Plain
Tianyou traveled with Li Jiangliang as he established authority in Mushroom Forest Plain. When he worried that his own people were too few to govern the broad region, she explained that the Yang family had already sent everyone it could spare and suggested borrowing trusted Qi cultivators from the lake. She knew the local families and their ties well enough to counsel against pressing Yuan Fuyao immediately, since her brother had only just settled the Yuan family. When Li Jiangqian asked about her origins, she identified herself with the Yang Family of Simin Prefecture; he clarified that it descended from the King of Yue and belonged to the imperial line. (Chapters 1545–1546)
Policy and family ambitions
Tianyou advised on the new government’s symbols and rewards, suggesting the motifs for Li Jiangliang’s official robe and assuring him that immortal families would receive noble titles. She cautioned that it was too early to raise a new banner while Eastern and Southern Sea factions could still exploit the change. She also interpreted Que Liyu’s approach and the successful emergence of Lingu Lanying, showing her access to Yang-family judgments about cultivation and state affairs. Although she helped secure honor for her husband’s family, his hope of leaving public life to return to Moongaze Lake visibly pained her. (Chapters 1627–1628)
Under the Yang ancestor’s scrutiny
When summoned before a Yang-family ancestor, Tianyou argued that Qingyu Qian and Xuan’an should be eliminated once the turmoil settled, citing their formation and immortal artifact as continuing threats. She emphasized caution and denied divided loyalties, but the ancestor told her to prioritize the larger Great Song undertaking and proposed a softer accommodation with the opposing lineage. Tianyou remained deferential as the elder questioned her, then withdrew when Yang Ruiyi arrived. Later, the rites surrounding the new state were described as having been confirmed with her, indicating that her policy role continued beyond that audience. (Chapters 1637–1638, 1686)
Appearance and personality
Tianyou is described as beautiful and captivating, and often meets others with a composed smile. Her composure gives way to visible fear before a senior Yang-family ancestor and to restrained distress when Li Jiangliang speaks of retiring from public life. She is politically astute, but her choices remain constrained by her lineage’s authority. (Chapters 1545, 1628, 1637)
Abilities and cultivation
Tianyou is identified as a favored daughter of the Yang family with a Golden Core bloodline, but no personal cultivation realm or named combat technique is established. Her demonstrated expertise is political: she understands the balance between the Yang lineage, immortal families, and the factions contesting authority. (Chapters 1546, 1628, 1637)
