Biography

A village leader tied to the Li family

Linfeng is Li Changhu’s maternal uncle and an uncle of Li Tongya; his sister married into the Li family after Linfeng’s father admired Li Mutian’s redistribution of the Yuan Family’s lands. During a refugee crisis, Linfeng and Changhu call the displaced families forward and offer food, tools, and access to farmland for a share of the harvest, while setting rules against theft and violence. When Changhu is killed, Linfeng is overcome with grief and helps the Li family identify the attacker and keep the refugees under control. (Chapters 15–18)

Authority regained and handed on

As the Li family consolidates control, Linfeng’s influence in village affairs wanes. He later helps manage the village after Ren Ping’an’s death and enforces discipline within the Liu family. After presenting Liu Miaotu to the Li elders in apology, he kills him when the elders leave the matter to his judgment.
