Lin Feng

Lin Feng is a cultivator whose rapid advancement and access to ancient treasures attract powerful patrons and reshape Jiangbei. His connection to Bright Yang Metallic Essence also draws Lu Jiangxian's attention, although the nature of that connection remains uncertain. (Chapters 1366–1371 and 1394)

Biography

Treasures and the northern journey

Lin Feng refuses to bow to a prefectural governor's son while still at the third stage of Embryonic Breathing. He challenges the stronger youth to a duel, insisting that inherited authority cannot command his submission. Chen Yang praises his courage and gives him an escape talisman, but becomes increasingly uneasy around him. Lin has rescued the sisters Fei Qingya and Fei Qingfei; he agrees that Qingya should cultivate at Moongaze Lake while her mortal sister continues travelling with him. He promises to reach Foundation Establishment within three years and return for Qingya. His defiance has real dangers: Baiyin, then known as Bai Yinzi, must intervene when Wang Bakong attacks him. By the struggle over the Capital Immortal Dao inheritance, Lin has indeed reached Foundation Establishment and carries a competing Gui Dusk Profound Token. His success draws Song Yunbai to his side, while rival claimants challenge the authority of his inheritance. (Chapters 1315, 1324, and 1366)

He returns to fetch Qingya wearing newly acquired armor and a crimson cloak. Finding another Fei woman insulting her, he strikes the woman with flame despite the protection Moongaze Lake extends to the family. Chen Yang intervenes to preserve her life, then receives Lin with extravagant courtesy. Lin wants better cultivation resources for Qingya and examines a sealed family technique, but its conditions do not yield an easy solution. To thank Chen for protecting her, he gives him the valuable Pit Water sword Black Creek, also called Black Stream. His casual distribution of weapons reveals a wealth of Mifan treasures far beyond ordinary Foundation Establishment equipment. He leaves with Qingya, Qingfei, and their relatives, while Mount Luoxia's powerful representative secretly oversees the crossing. Lu senses Metallic Essence straining toward Lin and investigates the concealed sword-form spirit embryo he carries. The reaction establishes an extraordinary association, rather than proving a specific reincarnated identity. (Chapters 1369–1371)

The northern journey brings repeated fights with cultivators and devil practitioners, prompting Lin to seek Purple Mansion advancement for easier travel. His follower Wang Changyan shelters his seclusion within a concealment formation, but opponents break it while demanding revenge for relatives and temples destroyed along their route. Lin emerges and burns the attackers away; when a Wrathful Maha confronts him, he draws a Dry Fire spirit treasure and forces the apparent giant into flight. Now a Purple Mansion cultivator, he pursues with a second fiery treasure, preventing easy escape through the great void and melting the opponent's defenses. His anger and disgust drive the chase, yet his freedom of action ends at a meeting arranged by stronger figures: he halts before two Daoists, one bearing six small swords, and is invited forward. His advance has made him formidable without removing the intervention of patrons whose designs surround his journey. (Chapter 1394)

Appearance and personality

Lin initially has a slender frame and refined face. Later he wears pale armor with white and red flames, then white-red armor and a pale crimson cloak. He is proud, fiercely resistant to humiliation, and affectionate toward the Fei sisters. His generosity with treasures coexists with violent retaliation against insults and opposition; during the northern fighting he shows little restraint toward enemies seeking redress. (Chapters 1315, 1366, 1369, and 1394)

Abilities and cultivation

Rapid advancement and flame methods

Lin condenses another Embryonic Breathing wheel shortly after challenging the governor's son. He attains Foundation Establishment by the Capital Immortal Dao conflict, fulfilling his earlier promise of rapid progress, and is identified as a Purple Mansion cultivator during the northern pursuit. His use of white and red flames, fiery sword power, and Dry Fire becomes increasingly destructive. Flames from his palm continue burning within an injured opponent until Chen Yang protects her heart meridians. His northern attack burns not only the besieging cultivators but the moisture from the ground beneath them. (Chapters 1315, 1366, 1369, and 1394)

Equipment supplies an important part of his demonstrated strength. The red spirit-treasure blade can threaten an opponent entering the great void, while flame released from a flask melts defensive treasures and swells as it consumes them. Dry Fire also eats through the fleeing Maha's mana and Dharma body. These feats show the conjunction of his cultivation and powerful artifacts; they do not establish that every displayed effect is an innate divine ability independent of his equipment. (Chapter 1394)

Perception and unusual associations

Red light in Lin's eyes accompanies a perception method when he considers Qingya's cultivation. Its full mechanism is unknown. The Bright Yang Metallic Essence held within Lu's Immortal Mirror repeatedly tries to fly toward him, but Lu suppresses it. Lu suspects a connection involving the Wei great ancestor and searches for a mirror fragment among Lin's Mifan swords; the response and suspicion do not conclusively identify Lin as that ancestor or locate the fragment on his person. Mount Luoxia's protection further discourages surrounding powers from attacking him directly. (Chapters 1369–1371)

Relationships

  • Fei Qingya and Fei Qingfei: Sisters he rescues and supports. Qingya pursues cultivation at Moongaze before he returns for her; Qingfei travels with him and speaks openly of his treasures and other relationships. (Chapters 1315 and 1369–1370)
  • Chen Yang: Earlier benefactor and diplomatic intermediary, whom Lin rewards with Black Creek while retrieving Qingya. (Chapters 1315 and 1369–1370)
  • Baiyin: Protects him from Wang Bakong. Lin later says he has given Baiyin the sword Falling Laurel. (Chapters 1324 and 1369)
  • Song Yunbai: Foundation Establishment ally who joins him during the inheritance struggle; his closeness to her provokes Qingfei's jealousy. (Chapters 1366 and 1369)
  • Wang Changyan: Follower who protects his northern seclusion, hoping the journey will help him find his missing parents. (Chapter 1394)
  • Lu Jiangxian: Observes Lin's unusual attraction of Metallic Essence and investigates his possible association with mirror fragments. (Chapter 1371)

Items

Mifan swords: Lin carries Piercing Heart and says he intends it for Yunbai; he reports giving Falling Laurel to Baiyin and Sea Sundering to Han Li. Black Creek is his completed gift to Chen Yang. A Geng Metal sword-form spirit embryo remains sealed within his qi sea under overlapping black-cloth artifacts, concealing its aura. (Chapters 1369–1371)

Gui Dusk Profound Token: His claim to a genuine command token supports his contested inheritance and confidence that stronger cultivators will not openly seize his treasures. (Chapters 1366 and 1369)

Dry Fire treasures: A red spirit-treasure blade and a flame-emitting flask support his pursuit of the Wrathful Maha. Their power is demonstrated, but no specific origin or later transfer is established. (Chapter 1394)
