Short Horn Star

The Short Horn Star is the passenger vessel that carries Han Xiao and the first selected players away from Planet Aquamarine, becoming the setting and principal target of their first crisis in galactic society.

History

Departure from Aquamarine

Han Xiao boards Short Horn Star with the players chosen to accompany him into space. The ordinary passenger voyage marks their transition from Planet Aquamarine's isolated conflicts to the wider galaxy and initially places them among travelers with no special reason to understand Black Star's past or plans. (Chapters 318–320)

Scavenger assault and destruction

Scavengers attack the vessel, board it, and divide its passengers amid a rapidly worsening emergency. Han Xiao and the players fight through the assault, protect survivors, and turn the crisis into their first galactic combat experience. Short Horn Star is ultimately lost rather than restored to normal service, forcing the survivors and Han's group to continue through the consequences of the attack. (Chapters 321–329)

Abilities and properties

• Functions as a civilian interstellar passenger vessel rather than a dedicated warship. (Chapters 318–320)
• Carries passengers, crew, and ordinary travel infrastructure across interstellar routes. (Chapters 318–321)
• Lacks the security and combat power to repel the scavenger assault without intervention from capable passengers. (Chapters 322–329)
• Its destruction makes it a transitional vessel, not a continuing part of Han Xiao's later fleet. (Chapters 328–329)
