Mountain Ape
Mountain Ape is Han Xiao's psionic successor to Berserk Ape, designed as a more versatile nano-transforming suit for both close-range and ranged Calamity Grade combat.
History
Psionic Ape-series successor
Han Xiao introduces Mountain Ape as an updated suit in the Ape series. Where Berserk Ape emphasizes physical power and close combat, Mountain Ape uses a psionic reaction furnace to support stronger energy output, ranged attacks, shields, and interstellar movement. Its higher equipment requirement, rare materials, and newer technology make it a substantial improvement rather than a cosmetic rebuild. (Chapter 665)
Han Xiao immediately subjects the suit to battles against Calamity Grade opponents. Its armor is damaged badly enough to require repeated emergency repairs, but it keeps him in the fight and gives him the mobility, protection, and psionic tools needed to pressure stronger enemies. (Chapters 670–675)
Interstellar campaigns
Mountain Ape becomes Han Xiao's principal personal suit in several subsequent operations. It shifts into an Interstellar Travel mode for independent space movement, forms psionic defenses and attacks, and deploys nanoparticle constructs. Han Xiao can also leave the shell while Phillip continues controlling it, allowing the suit to place traps or act separately from its owner. (Chapters 681–704)
The suit remains useful as a restraint platform when its transforming structure becomes handcuffs around Psyker. Soon afterward, Han Xiao's rapid growth makes another replacement necessary: he builds the higher-level Battle Tiger and formally supersedes Mountain Ape as his main combat armor. (Chapters 763–767)
Abilities and properties
- Uses a psionic reaction furnace to support both close-range and ranged combat, unlike the more narrowly physical Berserk Ape. (Chapter 665)
- Includes Mountain Ape Throw, a disabling grapple-and-throw technique with increased Strength and a brief stun effect. (Chapter 665)
- Generates psionic shields, impact blasts, and energy attacks while sustaining independent interstellar travel. (Chapters 674, 681, and 703–704)
- Deploys nanoparticle constructs and can continue operating under Phillip's control after Han Xiao exits the armor. (Chapters 682–683)
- Can reconfigure its structure into restraints strong enough to bind a captured opponent. (Chapter 763)
