Romo
Romo, known as the Defender, is a direct Beyond Grade A Virtual Mechanic of the Federation of Light. He guards the federation's quantum network and main intelligence network, generally contributing through remote virtual operations rather than appearing on a physical battlefield.
Biography
Intelligent Plague and the Association
Romo is assigned to reinforce the virtual defenses of the Federation of Light's attempt to capture Hila, remaining remote while Mornisa and the field team deploy. He joins Mornisa and Francisco in trying to breach Han Xiao's Mechanical Deity, but Han withstands the three-way intrusion and counterattacks their connection. During the Intelligent Plague, Romo joins the universe's leading Mechanics in researching the Virtual Mutiny Virus. When Manison attempts to retain its core, Romo speaks for the federation and demands that he surrender the dangerous technology rather than allowing it to escape civilization control. (Chapters 1045, 1050, 1053, 1102, and 1113)
Sanctum Revival and the Super Crisis
Romo continues serving the Federation of Light as one of its trusted direct Mechanics. He and Mornisa report to Louis while searching for Manison's hidden main body, then take part in the federation's virtual attack on Manison's systems. Afterward, Romo reports the stolen data while Mornisa recovers from severe injuries. He is later among the direct Beyond Grade As deployed against Han during the confrontation with the association. Romo subsequently projects his quantum soul through a temporary relay and helps infiltrate the World Tree Civilization's network, gathering intelligence before the connection is dismantled. (Chapters 1271, 1298, 1302, and 1315)
The World Tree War
Romo remains in the explored universe's combined Beyond Grade A force during the war. In the assault on the World Tree's main territory, he fights in the Virtual Network beside other Mechanics, launching repeated data attacks while allied combatants strike the physical defenses. This Chapter 1437 participation is the final direct evidence of him in the supplied corpus. He is alive and operational during the battle, but no later scene establishes his postwar office, retirement, or ultimate fate. (Chapter 1437)
Appearance and personality
No physical description of Romo is established. His presence is usually mediated through remote projections or a quantum soul in the data field, and the corpus characterizes his voice as deep. He is reserved, serious, security-minded, and professionally direct. Rather than seeking spectacle, he stays at his defensive post, coordinates with other Mechanics, reports technical results succinctly, and treats the Virtual Mutiny Virus core as a threat that must remain under institutional control. (Chapters 1045–1053, 1113, 1271, 1298, and 1315)
Abilities and class
Romo is a Beyond Grade A Virtual Mechanic specializing in quantum-network defense and intrusion. He helps maintain the Federation of Light's main firewalls, supplies remote computing power across interstellar distances, attacks hostile machinery through virtual connections, manifests a quantum soul in the data field, and participates in coordinated infiltration of World Tree nodes. Among the three Mechanics who attack Han's Mechanical Deity, Romo is explicitly the only dedicated Virtual Mechanic, though even his combined effort with Mornisa and Francisco cannot penetrate Han's defenses in that encounter. (Chapters 1045, 1053, 1113, 1315, and 1437)
Relationships
- Mornisa: Mornisa is Romo's frequent Federation of Light partner. They share responsibility for virtual defense, report jointly to Louis, and participate in operations against Han and Manison.
- Han Xiao: Romo first opposes Han remotely during the attempted capture of Hila. Han successfully defends against and counterattacks the combined virtual intrusion, establishing the gap between them in that battle.
- Manison: Romo demands that Manison surrender the virus core and later helps the federation investigate and raid his data, uncovering continued research on the Virtual Mutiny Virus.
- Hila: Romo supports the operation intended to capture Hila, though he does not travel to the battlefield and engages through the fleet's virtual systems.
Items
No persistent named personal item is established for Romo. The federation's main artificial intelligence, network infrastructure, remote projections, relay stations, and fleets are institutional resources used in his duties rather than personal artifacts.
