Langley

Langley is Sylvia's father, a former high-ranking officer who secretly serves another power and leads a rebellion against the New Phylen Alliance. He presents himself to his daughter as a righteous liberator while his forces commit crimes and pursue political overthrow.

Biography

The Black Star Mercenary Group

Han's mercenary group helps destroy Langley's stronghold and captures him alive, earning a larger reward than killing him. This differs from Han's previous timeline, in which mercenaries blew Langley apart. When Sylvia later attempts revenge, Han Xiao brings her to Agolo Prison City and forces Langley to tell the truth. Langley admits that he was a foreign-controlled spy, that his uprising harmed thousands for personal and political benefit, and that he lied to his daughter. His confession destroys Sylvia's heroic image of him while preserving the reality that he loved her. Later references call him a traitor but do not report a current-timeline death or release. (Chapters 432–436, 439, and 444)

Appearance and personality

In prison, Langley is aged and decrepit, with stubble, unfocused eyes, damaged knees, and implanted nerves that let him stand. He fears Han intensely but forgets that fear when he believes Sylvia is threatened. He is manipulative, ambitious, and responsible for severe crimes, yet his paternal attachment appears genuine.

Abilities and class

No Super class or personal power is established. Langley's demonstrated influence comes from high military rank, espionage access, recruitment, and command of a fortified rebel force. After capture, injuries to both knees limit him physically.

Relationships

• Sylvia: Langley shields Sylvia from his real activities and teaches her patriotism despite betraying his state. His confession leaves her hurt but ends her mistaken revenge campaign.
• Han Xiao: Han captures Langley alive, later uses his testimony to confront Sylvia with the truth, and is the source of Langley's lasting fear.
• The New Phylen Alliance: Langley serves within its military structure before spying, rebelling, and being imprisoned as a political and war criminal.
