Iapetus

Iapetus is a self-made businessman from Planet Ladbu whose bold attempt to use Han Xiao's influence secures his election as feudal lord but also places him in the Black Star Army. Initially forced into that service, he proves his commercial skill, rises through the Germinal Financial Group, and becomes its vice president.

The Flickering World

Iapetus returns to Planet Ladbu to challenge the families that have long controlled its nominal elections. When bribes and threats fail to make him withdraw, he falsely signs an invitation as the planet's feudal lord, calculating that Han's public arrival will deter an assassination. The gamble works and helps him win, but Han demands his service as payment. Iapetus reluctantly leaves his secretary as his planetary representative and joins the newly forming Germinal Financial Group under Sylvia. He accepts a competitive entry rather than immediate management authority, proves his value, and is later identified as one of the group's upper-echelon officers. (Chapters 933–937 and 993)

Intelligent Plague and the Association

Iapetus becomes one of the army's leading commercial specialists, directing negotiation teams for major projects such as the Evolution Cube business and the Black Star Cup. After more than twenty years, he has advanced from a talented young recruit to vice president of the Germinal Financial Group. He accepts his transformed life and helps Han use economic sanctions against the Modo Civilization, publicly cooperating with other businesses while privately monitoring logistics and targeting vulnerable assets.
