Fernas

Fernas is a celebrated Sunil Grade B Super who spends years working as a galactic mercenary to support his people. Exhausted by repeated sacrifice and what he sees as dependence on the guardians, he leads forty percent of the Sunil Supers away from the civilization.

Biography

The Black Star Mercenary Group

Fernas returns from the Catastrophe leading scouts who carry their fallen comrades' bodies. Once admired as brave, honest, and responsible, he privately tells his childhood friend Herlous that he can no longer accept endless sacrifice as an obligation. After the disaster, he publicly forms the Independence Faction and announces its permanent departure, shattering public morale. Fernas insists that accepting Godora's protection is the safer path for the race and deliberately helps expose Herlous as a replacement guardian before leaving. (Chapters 343, 346, and 348–352)

Mutation Disaster and the Secret War

Fernas does not return to Sunil in the supplied corpus. Chapter 508 contrasts another Grade B Super who remained in the Guardian Faction with Fernas's earlier departure, confirming the split's continuing significance without revealing Fernas's location or later work. (Chapter 508)

Appearance and personality

Fernas is a tall man with a resolute face and is once shown wearing a hood. Formerly disciplined and widely regarded as an ideal guardian, he becomes bitter, cold, and uncompromising after years of losses. His departure is self-interested, but he also argues that ending Sunil's costly resistance will save lives. (Chapters 343, 346, and 350–351)

Abilities and class

Fernas is one of only two known Sunil Grade B Supers of his period and is described as the race's strongest Grade B before Herlous's emergence. His specific class, powers, weapons, and techniques are not supplied. (Chapters 343, 346, and 352)

Relationships

  • Herlous: They are childhood playmates. Fernas resents Herlous for hiding his strength, yet engineers events that push him into becoming Sunil's new public guardian. (Chapters 346 and 350–351)
  • Lerden: Lerden remains with the Guardian Faction and condemns the public nature of Fernas's departure. (Chapters 343 and 350)
  • Lana: Fernas's split influences the debate over whether young Sunils such as Lana should continue military service. (Chapter 348)
