Randidly's Metallic Left Arm

Randidly's Metallic Left Arm is the articulated prosthesis that replaces the limb burned away on Tellus. Built and maintained through Randidly's collaboration with Sam, it doubles as a platform for advanced Engravings until accumulated damage and the emergence of Sulfur supersede it. History

A forged replacement

Randidly uses a metal prosthesis after losing his original left arm. A later version possesses fine articulation and enough structural complexity to serve as an Engraving platform; by the time of his later campaigns, it is consistently described as dark-grey metal. (Chapters 891, 1013, 1289)

Damage and Living Engraving research

Nether and Gatekeeper damage destabilize the arm's existing Engravings, causing repeated failures and making a rebuild necessary. Randidly and Neveah respond by studying Living Engravings, seeking a design able to adapt rather than remain a static carved mechanism. (Chapters 1388–1394)

Tempering and replacement

Randidly exposes the attached arm to all twenty levels of the Hierarchy of Burden, superheating and tempering its metal alongside his flesh. The separate prosthetic phase eventually ends when Sulfur integrates into Randidly's body and assumes the role of his left arm. (Chapters 1614, 2050)

Abilities and properties

• It is a highly articulated, dark-grey metal limb integrated into Randidly's body. (Chapters 1013, 1289)
• Its surfaces can support complex Engravings and thereby function as more than a mechanical replacement. (Chapter 1013)
• Heavy Nether and Gatekeeper damage can destabilize those Engravings and cause them to fail. (Chapters 1388–1389)
• Because the limb remains metallic, Randidly can deliberately superheat and temper it while it is attached. (Chapter 1614)
