Hiltless Blade Fate

The Hiltless Blade Fate is the descriptive name for a slate-grey harvested Fate recovered by Randidly Ghosthound from a Nexus armory. The scorching, self-directed blade becomes both an ordeal carried within his image area and the catalyst that restores Ignition Essence before contributing to the Philosopher's Key.

History

The slate-grey blade

Randidly finds the Fate suspended inside a pillar of fire. It resembles only a sword blade: about a meter long, as thick as his forearm, sharply edged and pointed at one end but cut flat at the other. When he awakens it, the blade glows cherry-red, floats, and releases a wave of heat strong enough to make him drop it. (Chapters 1099–1101)

A Fate carried in the chest

Randidly places the blade in his chest or image area and endures its constant heat. The ordeal repeatedly raises his Fire Resistance and Pain Resistance, but it also wears down his concentration and creates a dependence on the energy it supplies. (Chapter 1122)

Ignition Essence restored

After returning to his body, Randidly physically removes the blade and lays it beside his other candidate Fates. He grips the hot metal despite its cutting his palm and uses its flame and will to supply the spark that recreates Ignition Essence. The blade increasingly synchronizes with the phoenix-fire image even as its own consciousness is consumed. (Chapters 1131 and 1143)

First Fatepiece formation

The hiltless blade releases its accumulated power during Randidly's creation of the Philosopher's Key. Its destructive heat joins Chulroon's Chisel and the Alpha Cosmos in shaping the new Fatepiece; no separate blade form is shown afterward. (Chapter 1180)

Abilities and properties

• The weapon is a plain slate-grey blade roughly one meter long, with two keen edges, a pointed tip, and no hilt. (Chapter 1099)
• Awakening turns it cherry-red, lets it float, and releases extreme heat. (Chapter 1101)
• Prolonged internal contact trains Fire Resistance and Pain Resistance at significant mental and physical cost. (Chapter 1122)
• Its edge can cut Randidly's reinforced hand, and its heat can ignite or restore phoenix-fire image power. (Chapter 1131)
