Biography

Baleful Wood, Tellus, and Judgment

Zagnal serves in the Aether military as a red dragon-headed officer who escorts exhausted arrivals to their tent and follows command discipline. He later supports Randidly’s frontline deception by remaining with an Aether Key so Nether observers will not immediately recognize the true key’s absence. That assignment shows a subordinate trusted with operational risk rather than merely a ceremonial aide, even though much of his work occurs outside spectacular duels. Together, these moments define a continuing role through concrete duties, loyalties, and consequences rather than a simple succession of locations. (Chapters 1046, 1092, 1131)

Appearance and personality

Zagnal is a humanoid man with the head of a red dragon and the bearing of a soldier who responds with sharp salutes. He is disciplined, obedient, practical, and understandably wary of Randidly’s frightening image manifestations. Where further fixed traits are not stated, they remain uncertain. (Chapters 1046, 1092, 1131)

Abilities and progression

Zagnal has standard Aether military competence and can operate or guard an Aether Key within a deception plan. The selected scenes do not establish a named signature Skill, image mechanics, or formal advancement sequence. (Chapters 1046, 1092, 1131)

Relationships

  • Lady Iellaya’s command structure directs him, while Randidly relies on him to sustain the Aether Key deception.

Items

Zagnal temporarily holds an Aether Key, but it is mission equipment rather than a demonstrated personal artifact.
