Ulaat introduces himself through an earlier appearance, explicitly framing the form Randidly sees as how he looked before. His history survives through ash-related power and the later Path named The Ashes of Ulaat, Patron of Ash. The distinction between the historical being, the form that communicates with Randidly, and the ashes retained by the System remains important; the Path preserves legacy and power without necessarily restoring Ulaat as an unchanged living person.
