Missy Carp enters the story as a woman whose severe standards make Tessa expect that a weak proposal will be contemptuously destroyed. Her later actions create enough danger that she becomes a target of Randidly’s political and martial attention. By the time other Alpha Cosmos crises develop, Missy is incarcerated and her remaining significance can be monitored, limiting the threat without proving that every consequence of her earlier schemes has vanished.
