Ed first appears amid Donnyton’s familiar arguments, stubbornly defending a point even when Sam’s patience wears thin. At the World Summit, his insistence on rank and procedure becomes useful: he interrupts at the moment an unresolved representation issue needs to be addressed. Later, he works with Mareen on Randidly’s home and returns from a demanding assignment eager to begin again, bringing trained children to gain practical experience on other projects.
