Claudette Beigon

Claudette Beigon is Don Beigon's daughter and the psychically linked partner of Clarent, a sentient sword whose desolation image threatens to consume the life around it. Her alliance with Randidly Ghosthound centers on remaking that image and winning the right to direct her own life rather than accept the politically protective marriage her father arranges. Biography

Refining Clarent's desolation

Claudette asks Randidly and Neveah to undertake a dangerous refinement because anything short of a colossal improvement will leave her unable to resist her father's plans. Inside the working, Randidly discovers an image of a world slowly killed by an ice sword and the loneliness Claudette has hidden beneath composure. The refinement magnifies those emotions until Claudette herself becomes the engine of the blizzard and Clarent absorbs the storm into its blade. The result is unstable and exhausting, but it gives Claudette a power shaped by her own desolation rather than by passive submission. (Chapters 1612–1633 and 1648)

Training for autonomy

After recovering, Claudette trains through accelerated time with Randidly and practices directing the blizzard gathered around her body. Their alliance gives her both a combat partner and a counterweight to Don Beigon's control, while quieter time on Expira reveals a warmer side that her bleak image does not erase. She treats a child kindly while helping at a food stall and later exchanges fast physical attacks with Raymund, showing that her growth is not confined to environmental cold. By the time she returns to her father's estate, she remains frightened but chooses the coming contest instead of accepting protection on his terms. (Chapters 1650, 1662–1663, 1692, and 1718)

The contest and its consequences

At the Beigon gathering, Claudette fights with Clarent through a contest whose prize determines her future. She moves as an unkillable berserker atop the tower, cuts through broader images with the frigid blade, and reaches Don's coin after Randidly reconstructs the final barrier under pressure. Victory makes father and daughter formal allies rather than guardian and dependent, but Don warns that her independence removes the protections he had prepared. Claudette nevertheless rejects the proposed life of a kept bride, supports the exhausted Randidly when Don threatens him, and later refuses her father's protection again as the final war approaches. Appearance and personality

Claudette has long golden hair, bright blue eyes, and soft, pale skin. She commonly wears her hair in a loose braid. For the Beigon contest she chooses an elegant black dress, a sapphire necklace, frosted-blue nails, and makeup that heightens her already pale complexion; the deliberate presentation is a small rebellion because she frames her femininity on her own terms rather than her father's. Her calm manners hide anxiety, loneliness, and a stubborn insistence on agency. Claudette can offer sympathy even while under severe pressure, and her tentative warmth with ordinary people contrasts with Clarent's extinction-level symbolism. She is realistic about risk rather than recklessly confident, but once committed she fights with brutal persistence and refuses safety if its price is surrendering the right to choose her own future. Abilities and progression

Claudette is a capable Pinnacle Seeker whose principal power is the shared Claudette/Clarent image. Its foundational scene is a world destroyed slowly by an ice sword: merely planting the blade poisons weather and life until desolation becomes inevitable. After refinement, Claudette no longer treats the surrounding storm as an external effect; she acts as the howling engine that produces it. Clarent's darkened blade, deep-blue jewel, and protective hilt tentacles concentrate that cataclysm into a weapon able to leave frigid mist in its wake and shear through much broader enemy images. The bond has costs. During refinement, Claudette and Clarent's combined power runs out of control, damages Neveah's great Engraving, and consumes extreme quantities of Aether and emotional force. The sword's hollowness and desolation can threaten the coherence of Claudette's image, while the relatively recent transformation leaves visible instability even among other elite contestants. She develops control through prolonged sparring, environmental practice, and battle, but the covered chapters do not supply a chronological sequence of named formal stages separate from this image refinement.
