Biography

A tournament becomes self-assertion

Ciel begins as a prestigious Style disciple whose station seems impossibly above Claptrap’s, yet his encouragement helps her name the constraint placed upon her. Before facing Randidly, she trembles with the need to prove she is more than someone expected to continue the Steel Feather lineage. Once combat begins, nerves become excitement and she wagers boldly on the outcome. Although Randidly defeats her, the match validates her desire for worthy struggle; later family marriage claims cannot reduce that choice to a prize he actually accepts. Appearance and personality

Ciel is graceful and carries the composed bearing of an elite Style disciple. She can tremble intensely in private before stepping into public combat with amusement and controlled fire. Exact hair, eye, and armor details do not recur strongly enough for a fixed portrait. (Chapters 263 and 265)
