Polite inquiry becomes attempted captivity

Aiden approaches Randidly during the Tellus tournament as a well-dressed man supposedly gathering harmless information. That cultivated ease later gives way to a trap that confines Randidly with depleted resources while Darke’s plans overlap with a Propagator threat. Randidly must decide whether any escape technique will merely attract Darke’s attention before recovery is possible. When they meet again amid dead Witch Kings, Darke is surrounded by failure and bitterly invites Randidly to kill him, his earlier relish stripped away. (Chapters 235, 726, and 838)

Aiden is well dressed, unassuming, and often wears a small smile. His manner is polished and relishes the instant when another person realizes he has gained their attention, making courtesy part of his intimidation. (Chapter 235)
