Biography

A family proposal revised through candor

Weiss visits with his daughter Tildie while carefully clarifying that the trip is personal rather than an act of the Celestial Court. He initially proposes an arranged marriage between Tildie and Z, assuming the Innkeeper uses marriage alliances as conventional powers do. When the Innkeeper explains that workers choose their own partners, Weiss apologizes for acting in ignorance and accepts that the two young people may only meet and decide for themselves. The match does not develop, but Weiss treats the outcome as useful knowledge rather than an insult: he concludes that honest, direct friendship suits the Innkeeper better than layered tactics, shares news of Avalon and his son Ur, and departs quickly to resume Artica duty. Weiss is a Celestial who arrives in gold armor and a horned helmet shaped like half a crown; after entering the office, he casually sets the helmet in the air, where it remains unsupported.
