Assessing an anomaly

Vernan begins by tempering Lex's expectations about elite status, then watches assessment results that appear extraordinary without knowing the Inn-based explanations behind them. He interprets resistance to coercion, calm before giant beings, and strategic behavior as a coherent rare aptitude. The resulting consultant designation gives Lex income and institutional access, making Vernan's imperfect interpretation consequential even though its factual premises are incomplete.
