Toro

Toro is an Earth Immortal Trelop whose abrasive rules mask a serious responsibility for the creatures living within its underwater territory. (Chapters 606–607, 646–647)

Biography

The corrupting pool

Toro deliberately lets the aura of a mysterious pool spread, hoping to attract someone capable of removing a substance that corrupts bodies and enthralls nearby life. Although it wants an excuse to punish the trespassing Lex, its self-image as a disciplinarian keeps it bound to its own rules, so Lex's relentless courtesy forces cooperation. Toro explains the danger, contains Lex within its tenet, and agrees that he may take the liquid away. After learning the substance is Cosmic Erosion Elixir and may signal the realm's destruction, Toro suppresses panic, contacts the elders, gives Lex safe-conduct recognition among Trelops, and later corroborates the warning before the realm's leaders. Its response develops from territorial irritation into collective responsibility. (Chapters 606–610, 646–647, 686–706)

Appearance and personality

Toro resembles a massive goldfish made of seaweed and moves through its underwater forest as the region's lord. It is foul-mouthed, temperamental, and frustrated by politeness because courtesy denies it a pretext for punishment. Despite that comic volatility, Toro follows self-imposed rules, protects dependents, and becomes restrained and thoughtful when the realm-wide implications are clear. (Chapters 606–607, 647)

Abilities and cultivation

Toro is an Earth Immortal whose tenet manifests as seaweed. It removes crushing water pressure from those it guides, encloses Lex so he can cross a containment barrier, and suppresses—but cannot stop—the law-corrupting elixir. Toro also controls its territory well enough to disperse crowds, clear decay, and accelerate new saplings' growth. Its tenet interacts with universal laws, yet the elixir can still spread when mishandled; this inability to permanently contain or destroy it is the ability's central demonstrated limit. • Lex Williams: Courtesy forces Toro to cooperate with Lex; their investigation removes the pool and makes Toro a witness to the realm-wide warning. (Chapters 606–610, 646–706)
